This bash actually got its early conceptions almost 5 years ago, but I only now managed to get the design to gel in my head enough to build it.
It's based on a Star Wars role-playing Game session, followed by more RP on a forum over the last three years.

Basically, it's a HEAVILY customized Delta 7 Jedi Starfighter.
Major upgrades included an on-board hyperdrive and beefed-up firepower.

Major components are the main part of the hyperdrive ring from the FineMolds 1/72 Jedi Starfighter kit, the Obiwan version of the 1/48 Clone Wars Jedi Fighter kit from Revell, and the guns from a Revell 30th Anniversary Viper.

Started out by assembling the portions of the hyperdrive ring that I would need.

With those done, I went to assembling the Jedi Starfighter, pretty much according to the instructions.
Was built mostly OOB, except that I did glue it together and intend to go in and paint it later on.
I also did NOT include the Obi-wan figure as the LADY who normally flies this might object

Test fitting the hyperdrive unit.
Decided after this to cut off the old ring mounts and fill the holes with styrene

Upgraded guns installed on top of the existing kit guns to make them clear the hyperdrive bar

Holes in the units filled with pieces from the ring to cover the holes. These were later beveled with my Dremel and a sanding drum

Main assembly completed. Now she needs paint

The kit landing gear is JUST long enough for the drives to clear the ground

Looking promising. I love kitbashs. 8)

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"

I have never done a kit bash, but one day I will.... Keep posting these, I have you to blame for my contest build, and in the future, I might also have you to blame for a kit bash ;D

Looks good so far.

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"

Thanks, all.
And Grendels? Glad I could inspire you.

Tonight, she's getting a coat of black primer to unify the whole thing

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"

Okay,
Small update over the last couple of days.
I masked off the canopy for painting, and took out the R2 unit.

First, we go with a base coat of flat black for the whole model.

After that dried overnight, I gave the ship a nice coat of red.

Tomorrow, I'll mask off some of the red, then do a second color coat, likely in Testor's "Graphite Dust"

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"

Another update.
Had some weather delays due to high winds not making it so I could get outside and spray.

Also was running low on "Graphite Dust" so I came up with a little different solution.
I painted the bottom with a gloss gray, then did the top with the Graphite Dust.

Here she is with the masking removed.

Next step is weathering

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"--6/18

Looking nice. I like what you did with the top half of the ship. I think it contrast every well with the bottom.

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"--6/18

Thanks, Grendels. It's a nice fade between the two sides right now

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"--6/18

Very nice!! A simple & totally believable modification as to what the Jedi's might do. Nice color combo on the paint, too.

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"--6/18

Thanks, Prince. I was pleasantly surprised at how it worked out

Re: A little ship I like to call "Baby"--6/18

Thanks, Scott.
I should have some more pics up either tonight, or tomorrow.
Got it basically finished now

Okay, as promised, here are the final pics of "Baby"
I gave her a black wash to bring out the detail, but wiped off most of the excess (except on the one engine)
I also drybrushed black under the gun barrels to simulate the "carbon scoring" that some Star Wars models seem to have.
The astromech droid was left relatively clean intentionally.

Great job Q!

Looks like your starting to get a little looser with the weathering ;)
You did still keep the droid clean ::) I kid ;D

Seriously though, killer work on this.
You should prop it on a small block, hidden and shoot against a black backdrop.
Poster board contoured under it will work great and it is really cheep.

It would make it all the sicker ;)

Thanks, Mak.
Still working on my skills as a photographer.
Also trying to take to heart some of the advice I got on my Wonderfest entries

It is a very interesting idea of edding an engine module from FineMolds hyperspace ring -fits just like it was ment for this.
I still have mine Obi-Wan's fighter on the workbench with only that crappy fabric-weathering removed, so I'm looking forward new photos - Your work is really inspiring ;)
