Thanks Guys for the Comps, I'm having a GREAT time building this diorama!! Here are the new photos of the progress, I now have the Island attached and most heavy armament in place, as for the 40s and 20s I have to wait on some more PE as I do want shields and the sets I have used do not fit...

From Radford to Yorktown 1/700 Diorama

Now for the Island. I've been working on getting the island done but I will not be putting it on the deck for a while as I don't want to knock off any of the little parts while I finish the Hull section. On the island I have scratch built the Horn, antennas, added piping and rigging. I still...

From Radford to Yorktown 1/700 Diorama

Before I put on the deck I like to attach hull to base so I no longer touch the ship to move it around, so I have to paint and trim the base. The first photo shows the base just painted with no Gel applied so the white caps are missing, They will be the last thing I do as I need to cover base...

Thanks Guys, Sorry for the slow return been running sound at a music festival all week and did not have internet there. Baron most of the planes are Navy over Gray, with just a few being tri colored and some were in this scheme for a bit and I was thinking since they got shot down so often that...

From Radford to Yorktown 1/700 Diorama

Thanks for the comps Panzerman, yeah it is like microsurgery and i use the magnifier light a lot. Building the Air Wing, Changing the bottom to top rows. Most likely no planes will be on flight deck so most of this work will not be seen, but since they will all be below deck all wings have to...

More up to date Photos, almost done just some rigging and paint touch up, then onto the U.S.S. Yorktown and base. Over all this kit was not a bad build just a little plain out of the box but she dresses up nice. First two show the scratchbuilt rear 20mm tub. Now for the almost done. Detail...

From Radford to Yorktown 1/700 Diorama

Howdy, some of you may know me from my plane builds, but I also Love building ships too. This diorama will have the U.S.S Radford (Tamiya) returning downed fighter pilots to the U.S.S. Yorktown (Trumpeter). this build also has another meaning as I live near Radord Va, in the southwast part of...

    1/48 P-38J (Fictional)

Void Yes it has already been in a show, the show that the nose art is for is in 2013. I put the art on to promote the upcoming Region 2 Convention we will be hosting. The one it has shown in was our yearly show, the Virginia Shootout. Hope that clears things up. Good luck on that Revell kit...

    1/48 Williams Brothers Ford Flivver

No Chris, you can't judge in the same class but over the years I have strived to build historical correct models, which include weathering, very few of them ever placed while I see Pretty NEW looking plane win constantly in said category. With the Flivver I built one that Historical was kept...

    1/48 Williams Brothers Ford Flivver

This is the Ford Flivver, a cute little 300lb plane from the 20's and 30's. It was a fun build and very shiny. I built this to prove a point, that a Pretty Shiny plane will win first long before a weathered plane will. I also posted a P-38 that is lightly weathered and did not place with it but...

    1/48 P-38J (Fictional)

Hey Guys after a short break I've finished this P-38J. She is a fictional plane from the 434th FS of the 479th FG, flying from Wattisham. The nose art is what makes this a Fictional plane as it is the Mascot art for my model clubs Region 2 convention coming up on Oct 4,5 2013 in Roanoke Va, of...

    Models Of a Different Type

Hey Fellas, I have not been here in a while, as I have started a new business I have not had much time for plastic model building. I have however been building Model numbers for my new venture into Speaker Design and Sound Engineering. The premiss of my company's name and products started with...

    I HATE gloss white!!!

Yes it sounds like it is too thin, ALSO one major thing to remember is You can not change/apply a color with only one coat and something like white will take quite a few coats, and must be done slowly with a lower pressure. James
