I thought I would just post this to remind myself how lucky I am. I'm at work having lunch, watching the birds and deer running across a field in the sunshine in peace and quiet. I could be sat in a gloomy canteen or at a desk staring at a screen or worse. Is anyone else lucky?

It's the start if his secret 1/1 Scale Panther. I would guess its for making one of the engine cooling fan boxes or some such thingamibob.

I promise to stop trying to be a clown but it does cheer me up as try as I might the effects of the Chemotherapy on my wife, just makes me so down and sad.

Hope all are having fun and to us in the UK have a great Bank Holiday.

Don't stop, I really enjoy comments and if it makes you feel better then just keep them coming. It's a new design for a streamline stelth turret but don't tell anyone!!

Golgotha, I was saddened to hear about your wife. I hope the treatment is working for her, something like that is a horrific thing to endure. Best wishes for her recovery, getting old really sucks & there is nothing good about it!

As for my wife & I, we are both very lucky and even though we sometimes forget that fact it is true:-)

If cancer won't kill you, chemotherapy might do the job. Mom went through chemotherapy and it really wrecks your body. I think it might be useful against certain types of cancer, but this "one-size-fits-all" administration of it is reckless. I've brought this up before in another section of this forum, but most doctors have tunnel vision, and their education mainly comes from Big Pharma. I know a man who is a Guinness World Record holder who had leukemia but since his uncle had died from the chemo, he refused to take it and went to a naturopathic doctor and has been leukemia-free for decades. And during the present situation of this world we live in, I am seeing many stories of people using alternative treatments for the WuFlu and seeing cancers going into remission. We are at the precipice for medical breakthroughs, stuff the possibilties of which have been ignored because patents have expired and it isn't profitable. In fact, I know a guy (a fellow modeler) who has actually developed a proven cure for a certain type of cancer, but it was shelved by the FDA and promptly ignored. It's hideous what is being supressed. So, just know that there are alternatives.

So why do I feel lucky? It's been a fairly cooler than average summer and today is especially cool. I have a job without much stress at all, working with nice kids who are always happy to see me. I'm on my lunch break now and there are two small hobby shops within easy walking distance from here if I choose to step out and see what they've got. I have two 3-day weekends coming up and next week I will only have work Tue-Thu.

Every day above ground is a blessing.
On the subject of happiness, I recommend reading Dennis Prager's "Happiness is a Serious Problem". He's devoted years of air time and writing to the subject of happiness, and it's worth reading.
Victor Frankl's "Man's Search For Meaning" is another book worth reading, on the subject of happiness. To paraphrase a major theme of his work, we can't control what happens to us, but we can control how we react.
And I agree with the quote attributed to Abraham Lincoln, "Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be." If anyone had a reason for sorrow, it was he. He watched his country slide into a bloody civil war, watched brother slaughter brother, lost his eldest son. But he understood that truth.

Words of wisdom. You know what's sad though? It's about to happen again if Kamala gets in or if Trump gets shot again. There would have been no Wars anywhere if Trump would have stayed in office. We need that boy back in the White House lickety split

The Democrats have destroying our nation, economy, and allowing the woke/cancel culture get out of control for the past 3 1/2 years. It really disgusted me the moderators fact-checked Trump several times during the recent debates and none on Chuckles. She is NOT FIT to be our next President of the United States. She gets in, we will have a Civil War and WW3. The world is gone to hell in a handbasket.

Rob started it which he should have known politics is frowned upon in any model forums; I stated my piece - which is the hard truth folks won't admit. I agree. Let's not discuss politics again.

The wife and I are blessed to be able to watch a doe that has raised her babies in our yard for the last four years. What I've observed is she has twins every other year. The year she has twins its a doe and a buck the years she has just one, it's a doe. There is plenty of other wildlife we get to watch as well. The last couple of years we have had a Groundhog gracing our presence, living in a large brush pile in part of the yard. Occasionally I get the pleasure of eliminating an armadillo or two. The only good armadillo is a dead armadillo. It's Bald Eagle season now but we've yet to spot one. I have read they are starting to live in the area year round in small numbers. The last couple of summers we have seen a bald eagle in June so I'm inclined to believe that information. last year I got to see my first Golden Eagle that was pretty exciting. There are Black Bears in the area but I've yet to see one. When I do I hope it's at quite a distance. Coyotes are abundant but they are pretty wiley. We have 40 acres mostly wooded the yard I refer to is in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 acres.

Our contemporary technology certainly presents a challenge to us, with the constant noise and distraction. It's important to make time away from our devices for the quiet needed to think, reflect, contemplate. A sabbath from technology. And it is difficult. We have, generally, an addiction to our devices, and especially in the way the info is delivered. It the difference in how we take in info visually compared to listened or reading. Very difficult to overcome.

In the old days you just had to get things sorted, now it's ring someone to ask what to do.

Perfect example, my carpenter's rang me to say that they cannot fit a roof as the carpenter with all their nail guns had broken down.

My reply, use a hammer.

Yeah, I was never happy with that level of availability in my job. Fortunately it wasn't an issue when I moved to testing. When I was still on the application support team, though, I had to carry a phone for after-hours support. There was combat pay that went with it, but it wasn't worth the aggravation to me. When I was a team leader, I was happy to let volunteers take it.

But I had some amusing incidents when I did have to carry it. We provided support for West Coast clients till 5PM their time, 8PM our time.
One time, I got a call when I was in the "library", if you get my meaning. I listened to the customer, a school district system admin, describe the problem. Normally we would log in to the system and start diagnosing. But I couldn't, at that moment, and I told the customer that I wasn't in a position to access her system. She got snippy-"Oh! So you're saying you can't take care of this?" "No," I replied, "I will, but at this exact moment, I'm not able to try to log in to your system. I will in about 10 minutes." If I had been in a more irascible mood, I would have said, "Look, lady, I'm taking a dump. Give me a few, all right?"

Another time, I was at bat in a softball game, when the phone went off. One of my teammates yelled from the bench, "Yo, B-rad! You're phone's ringing!" I let it go till voicemail.

And there was the time when a California customer waited till 4:59 to call. It wound up taking an hour to resolve, and I had plans for dinner. I could have reached through the phone and strangled her.

"Put the computer back in the box, take it back to the store, and tell 'em you're too stupid to own one."

depending on the crew , I'd just give them the day off if the air was down -- although , I see all these vids popping up in my YT feed and everyone is using cordless nailers ,,, face nailing in at 20 , 30 degree angles ( wtf ! ) ,,, I can't watch construction vids ; makes me go crazy with disbelief and anger .
watching some of that construction , I'm thinking , " I can pull all that apart with my bare hands , dipshi ts ."
