i finally decided to pick up one of these kits i saw on ebay and which seem to be increasing in numbers and subjects. happens to be in my favorite scale 1/200 for ships. you can see the small box it came in.. no instructions - will have to do it old school with research from pictures. ill see how it is working with this.. there isnt too much reference out there for how to deal with the "printing texture" .. im sure there is an official term. i tried doing some coats of rattle can primer to see if it will start smoothing out. seems impossible to actually smooth out the whole thing by sanding.. especially around all the details. anyhow, ill see how it goes.. i think its cool looking unusual subject matter.

ive been moving along on this one while the T2 is undergoing recovery. working on gaps (hull came in 4 sections) and seams... i made some prop shafts out of wooden dowels. going to end up covering the vehicle deck with sheet styrene as well since there is a giant deck piece in the center that will never be smoothed out enough to pass muster. so the thing with these 3d kits... you are on your own in many places to figure out whats up , but there is a ton of subject matter being offered in scales that you will never see from the major manufacturers. ive shot it with about 3 coats of rustoleum primer which seems to lessen the 3d print surface texture. i think once a top coat is airbrushed, it will come out pretty well. the superstructure was just dry fitted and the bow doors installed. i just have to clean up those seams enough to where you can still tell there are doors that are supposed to be there
