Right, but how to apply them so that they stay on?looking like dust and fine dirt.

Now we're getting somewhere! Maybe @GaryG64 has some advice?but every method I tried to fix them, altered the appearance
That wood is amazing, and the crusted on dirt! So much I gotta learn!dusty effect.
I used Vallejo Pigments and a fluffy #4 brush. Dipped the tip of the brush into the powder and applied to the wheels. Now we're getting somewhere! Maybe @GaryG64 has some advice?
I agree. That wood is amazing, and the crusted on dirt! So much I gotta learn!
Haha. Gotta get up to speed on all this techno jargon!I believe fluffy is a technical term.
Thank youThat's looking fantastic, the grated side panels, quad guns... the dusted wheels!
Nice work! Looking great!!Not finished, yet. I placed the top on to see if I want it on or not.

Nice, I like the way it's evolving. PMI added more pigment powders over the "mud" to try to make it look like dry mud.

For modelling purposes, it's really just paint. Paint the model in the regular colour it would have had, then just apply mud-coloured paint with a wide brush, none too neatly and not necessarily as thin or even as you can. Using a somewhat worn brush will probably help, tooI have an M6 (WC55 gun carriage) in the stash which I want to 'field' camo as in a photo I found... mud mixed with gasoline applied with a broom!
The 'mud' has me spooked, so it'll be a while.
Thanks....mud!
I've yet to try that. Looks good and 'caked' on!

You weren't kidding! Who says weathering can't be fun!?just dive right in.
Thank you!Nice, I like the way it's evolving. PM
Thank youThis is brilliant! I had a period about 30 years ago when all I built were many and various types of Sd.Kfz's.
Thanks.Nice work.
Join the club my brotha!Trying to recreate mud and dust effects is something I would like to improve on.
Thank you. I've been kicking around some ideas for a diorama.Hi Gary.
Comming along great, excellent work on the weathering. Trying to recreate mud and dust effects is something I would like to improve on. That is on a very long list in my case though. Looking forward to the finished model.
Very cool!Edbert's pic reminds me of a diorama I did many years ago, and no longer have.
