I'm waiting for a Chinook CH-47A model 1/35th scale which should be coming in the mail sometime before October 31. This Helicopter has a purpose. That purpose is to carry a 1/35th scale Joint Light Tactical Vehicle JLTV-GP (M1278) into the Military Careers Office and display a new camouflage that I came up with for the JLTV-GP.

I'm using a Vietnam age Chinook diorama to carry a JLTV-GP Slung loaded under the Chinook. I am also buying Vietnam pilots. to bring in the new age. I kept trying to find bigger models bigger than 1/35 scale JLTV but there wasn't any. There were a few videos of remote controlled vehicles online but I couldn't ever find the 1/16th scale JLTV-GP RC for sale.

One day my social worker came over and she gave me an F-15 plastic model. I she gave me some of the slowest curing cement you could imagine but it eventually set one wing at a time. I had already drawn pictures of JLTV-GP camouflage and I wanted to present it to the Armed Forces Career Center and then I had an idea... instead of showing the Military pictures I could paint a scale model. This seemed like a good idea to me and when my social worker came over she looked on her phone for the JLTV and we THOUGHT she found one.

Sometime later my Caregiver took me to the Sidekick Toy and Scale place and they didn't have the model there but had it at another store of theirs in another state. I thought maybe it would be worth looking around anyway and came across this Helicopter called an 1/72th scale CH- 46 Sea Knight. I realized that I could suspend the JLTV from the bottom of the Sea Knight and I bought the kit for $25 U.S. Dollars.

I took the model out of the box when I got home and was sorely disappointed with the teeny tiny itty bitty helicopter! It was WAY too small, but I decide to build the kit anyways. I showed off the tiny little landing gear and wheels that i had to assemble and walked out to the living room to show it to everyone everyonce in a while. Then when my Sea Knight was nearly complete I was cementing the rotors to the helicopter and managed to drop it. The tiny little thing fell to pieces!!! After discussion with my Caregiver we decided that I could buy a bigger model that wouldn't break so easily. So, here I am waiting for helicopters and pilots and JLTV in the mail. I got paints and stuff in the mail and expect more things in the near future.

Some questions have arised. Is there a primer that can be brushed on with a hair brush? Should I just not do primer because I can't be having overspray? Has anyone here used 1/35 scale pilots before?
It's time for my meds talk to you later

I've bitten off more than I can chew.
Give yourself plenty of time. Think about how you are going to build it and read the instructions a few times.

If I get to a stage that just doesn't seem to work or fit I tend to stop, leave it alone and start again the next day. Often as not it usually becomes clear what I should have done. Pantherman

I want my CH_47A to look like it would be when flying. Does the landing gear get raised and lowered? I only see them lowered...

The gear doesn't retract, it always stays down.

I believe one of the rears can be steered, the other rear swivels like a castor.

Edit: beaten to it :)

The glue was weak enough that I could break the bond between the firewall and the intake and fender. It looks like there are slots in the firewall in the instructions but there isn't any tabs on the fender that should fit into the slots. Did I accidently remove the tab or something? The tab is missing on both sides though. It looks like C5 gets put on 180 degrees from what the instructions look like. It looks like there should be pins and grooves on the air cleaner but there aren't any. I'm scared of getting this wrong. Once I got C5 to dry-fit the firewall but by the time ai got the glue ready it moved and I haven't been able to get it in a good position and I had a ugly little accident and glued C5 in the wrong place. Glue doesn't seem to want to work now that I have moved the parts around trying to get it fixed. Now what? Glue doesn't work... I even tried superglue and that didn't go well.

I just got the H304 green for my CH-47A 'Chinook' today and applied my first coat. Then I realized I that was GOING to put some primer on before now.
I don't have any primer anyway. LOL

Mr. Aqueous paint doesn't need primer over plastic anyway, in my experience :) Brush-painting it requires at least two coats, though, because it doesn't cover too well. It sprays really well, though.
I will have to wait till next month to get an airbrush though. I am definitely liking how the paint is going so far with just a 1 Centimeter flat brush... I THINK it is called a flat brush anyway. you can see the brush in the picture propped up in the cardboard box. (Now that I look at the picture you can't see the the brush is flat.)

So, I'm looking for a easier JLTV-GP M1278 kit. The I love Kit is difficult to build because I can't figure out how to do things like the dashboard and the fenders. It's probably my fault that I can't figure it out though.

If I were you, I'd learn to walk before trying to run, though.

The ones in the plastic pouch are indeed all flat brushes, by the looks of it.
the two smaller parts are really good looking. Did you mean walk = paintbrush and running = Airbrush?
