Do I see a Revell 1/48 B-25J Mitchell dual build in the future!

Too many to count. At least 400 kits, as a rough estimate. And that's not really that big of a stash, compared others I've seen.
That doesn't include my gray army, either, all my metal figures and kits. That might be around 500, maybe more.

And I thought 30 was a lot.

And I thought 30 was a lot.
To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, "Aw, thet's nawt a stash. THIS is a stash!"

I'll probably never build all the kits I've accumulated, and I don't have anywhere near the space necessary to display the finished kits, anyway. So I've been thinking over the past few years, of reducing the stash.

I accumulated the kits with a bit of a plan. I have several themes and bought kits accordingly. For example, for aircraft, I have a theme of every type of US aircraft used at the Battle of Midway, from the usual suspects of the Wildcats, Devastators, and Dauntlesses flying from the carriers, to the Buffaloes, B-17Es, and even General Tinker's LB-30 Liberator, flown off Midway. I have another theme of "Doomed at the Start", all US aircraft types used in the Philippines when the Japanese attacked.

Then there's the Yellow-Wings theme, the ETO AAF theme, and then just subjects that caught my fancy at one time or another. Not a lot of German aircraft, though I have a what-if project that I started, back in the day-German naval aviation.

Then I have 1/700 scale kits to build each of our first 10 carriers. I need the Langley and the Ranger. There are resin kits of those two, but long out of print. I hold out hope that someone will produce them in injection-molded styrene. Look at the Wasp-for years, there was nothing. Then Aoshima released its kit. Trumpeter issued a 1/350 kit of the Ranger, and it's possible they might scale it down to 1/700 some day. But the fact that my 1/700 scale Pennsylvania kit still sits unfinished on my bench, after 12 years, is not encouraging.

I also have a stash of Maschinen Krieger kits, but I do intend to build each one of those. MaK has a bit of an advantage in that most of the fighting suits are relatively simple to build; you spend more time having fun with your paint schemes. And the finished models don't take up a lot of room. There are good figures in 1/20, too, so you can make a little vignette on a relatively small base. I'm keeping those kits.

And I intend to paint every one of my toy soldiers.

I sometimes wonder, though, if when I finish the last one of all, my time will be up. Kind of like in the end of Arthur C. Clarke's short story, "The Nine Billion Names of God".

Pfffttt…. amateur…. LOL!

I‘ve got more than you in my stash. Too many to list. I keep a record over at scalemates.com. You can list everything from kits, paint colors in any brand, aftermarket stuff, decals, etc…

Easy to sign up and register. It’s free too.

And I thought 30 was a lot.
There is a guy in my scale model club that has over 3000 kits in his stash. But he rarely builds anything.

We pick on him and tell him he can save money on insulating his house with other things besides model kits. Because he keeps them in his attic.

I don't like it when my stash gets over 100. Currently I have 66 and I am setting up a vendor table at a local show in 2 weeks to whittle away at that. I am keeping 37 of them and brining the rest to sell.

3000 - Whoa - he must be approaching one of every kit ever made (most of the new kits I see now (outside of the Chinese) are re-do's of kits they had when I was a kid - over half a century ago.

In my stash:
POLAR LIGHTS/AMT Star Trek TOS Galileo Shuttle w/interior 1:32

Just completed:
AMT Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise Bridge 1:32

Yes it is and I'm a fan of dedicated ground support aircraft. If I don't totally screw it up I'll post some pics when I'm finished.

I took this thread as an opportunity to update my stash at scalemates, and then list it here. It is a good reminder to think about maybe making one of these, instead of buying that new Magic Factory Corsair
