So last summer I thought I would start on a Scammell Artillery Tractor... then came the Cargo GB, and well, going to give big trucks a break!

First new build for 2026!

This little guy is intriguing, and was apparently in use in North Africa as a logistics runabout, and shopping at COSTCO no doubt!
This kit is from Special Armour, not familiar with them, and they've mashed a plastic Beetle kit with a resin truck bed, and expect me to chop it up... we likes chopping up! 👿

I will forgo the bath for the plastic parts this time, but will prep the resin to remove any residues before priming.

This build will fill in between some figure work and completing the M6 WC 55...

...so I watched a video on the metooob, and the guy snipped off some parts that weren't shown in the instructions...
If only he'd perused my bookshelf, and read (I just looked at the pictures) he might have thought twice, but probably cut anyways...

As it is, now I'll have to determine if the hand hold thingys in the roof were only on the cabriolet, before cutting them off...

Once I've figured out the handhold bit, that resin panel will be glued in place, to be used as a guide, for cutting the back half of the car off down and between the doors.

Wow that's an interesting vehicle, never seen anything like that. I have seen a VW bus that was chopped and a pickup bed was put on, guy did a really good job on it too.

Yup... especially with these very thin micro saws on the plastic... it becomes a cut by 'feel' more than eyes...
I used heavier blades on the resin, including a jeweler's saw.

For anyone that watched me work on the Topolino last year, it is funny to think that time I was cutting a hole in a roof to make a cabriolet, this time it's the reverse!

First time I use the scribing tape, the edge is pretty tough.

Well good you taught me something new today, I don't do much cutting like this but I'm gunna grab a tool to have on hand and it will help with my crappy scribing skills as well 😂

Been meanin' to comment on this one for the past few days but my computer at work won't let look at pictures from here any more. Bummer!!

I'm on now at home and am loving what I am seeing with all of this surgery BB. Very unique take on this vehicle and I'll be keeping my eyes glued to the set on this. .....no pun intended.

...so back to the bug.
I decided to make conservative cuts, ignore the decidedly misleading instructions, and keep dry fitting and adjusting as I go.

A start with a scraper convinces me to continue... like parmesan!

... a bit more to go, but time for another test fit.

Will need more adjusting, but on the right track, me thinks!

Looking good my friend!

... So after more test fitting, studying reference photos, and generally being unimpressed with the resin... I am going to try making my own parts.

The provided resin was too short to close up the back of the passenger compartment, and had poor fit along the sides. The bed edges are less than inspired, and the box sides warped.

I could work with these, but I think I can probably do better from scratch.

... Wish me luck!

Wow is that a resin upgrade in 1/24 scale?
Hey Pat, the resin was part of the kit... Basically a 1/35 VW military Beetle with the parts needed to convert it to a pickup.
Unfortunately, the instructions are not all that clear, and the resin fit not all that great.

In the end though, I don't mind working out the bugs (see what I did there? 😝 ), and even replacing some of it with my own scratch.

Let's hope it all works out!
