Okay, after finishing work on my Solaria MkII, I got to looking at the MkVIIE that I did for the contest, and decided it was time to rework how she was done.
I started by replacing my converted pilot (on the right) with the one Timeslip was kind enough to provide me (on the left)

Then came the process of "refurbishing".
SOaked the ship in various cleansers to loosen my decals.

This time, I masked off the panels to paint them, rather than decal them.

Colors were applied

Panel lines filled in with a .5mm pencil

Applied new versions of my markings along with new ones made from b its of other decal sheets

Some drybrushed and washed weathering, and we have the new version
