The adversaries face off....

Like I said over on your channel, John, I think you have the worst of the textures beat.
Just wish I could tell you why those Ambrol joints keep busting on you

the glue issue may have something to do with the plastic itself. I am not that fond of the welding glues i have good results with ca and testors liquid non toxic. The pinning method should also help. another issue is probably the join line. from the video it looks as if there is not enough plastic to really grip and gravity is probably pulling it apart especailly during the construction. have you thought about doing all the seams with the skin and then gluing the pieces together. that way there would be less handling.

That would be my guess.

I can remember when people started building the 1/35 Dora rail gun, M.E.K. type glues weren't really working and many were posting about their troubles using Proweld, Tenax, Plastruct, Testors etc. and the parts just coming apart under little stress.

It was some sort of ABS plastic and not the 'normal' styrene or what have you, using an ABS plastic glue solved those problems. I wonder if it's something similar?

Either way John, I feel your pain. It would frustrate me as much as I could hear in your voice that it frustrated you. Hope you get it sorted out, best of luck.

I feel sorry for you! That plastic is junk! Or it's some weird stuff? but it can't be styrene
or could it be the coloring agent ? Whaaa. Who knows?
The seams repairs are moving along just fine..... Beside those breakage....

The few repairs I have seen on your video looked great! I can see the frustration in your face....
I hope the pining will hold those stubborn tail pieces....

Thanks all, I think I figured out what the problem is. This is the deluxe version of this kit. The normal version was molded in a grey plastic, without the shiny brass color. I am beginning to think that the brass color is some form of paint. I can scrap it off and the plastic is grey underneath.

So it probably is some sort of coating which is preventing the glue from curing correctly. Both for this kit and for Godzilla, when the joints broke, you could see a residue on the plastic from the Pro weld. Which makes me wonder a bit.

The tail has been pined and it holding up really well. It feels very solid now. (Well it is one solid piece, so it should feel that way.....)

Progress has been made today. I figured out how to use a texture stamp with Aves, so thing should speed up now!

The main body has its seams done, the legs are done with the feet attached. If my experiment with the texture stamp works, I will be taking care of the tails and necks tomorrow!

Norm: Where did you buy that resin kit from? I tried to back track it from the link you provided, but I couldn't find the original site.

John!

The resin I use is "Smooth On". Or if you have access to "Alumilite" resins it should work!
The resin from Smooth On is the 305. Is is almost like sculpting Soap! Which is great!
And mabe why it reacted so well in the Hot water? In a very thin form... As you remember.

But I would only venture down that alley, if your AVES technique isn't yielding good results... Because you will in turn, go back to ground zero! And start learning new stuff near your dead line!

As far as I am concerned, it looks like your AveS clamping onto your moulding compound seems to work pretty good! So why change? Your call! Best of luck buddy!

Norm: I am not going to change up my technique, I am talking about the resin Godzilla kit. The one you posted a photo of.

I got the Aves seam filling technique down last night. Much better than what I was showing in the last video. No way I am changing it up now!

I have been following this on YouTube and have only just caught up here. What an Aves experience! Its all coming together nicely. I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your endeavours.

Thank you! This thing sure has been a learning experience!!!

Norm: That is the one! Thank you for the link. And that second statue is outstanding. If I had the time in this contest, it would be something to build!

Thank you noc5659!

Well here is another Godzilla update. This video gets the Big G up to date.

Godzilla: Almost done!!

Looking really good. Think about giving mr. G a wash of a dark brown or black paint. It will make the details pop out and it won't be too much work to do.
Cheers
Lukasz

Oh very well done, but just one thing: on the middle spine on his left side, I think I saw a blemish or something, other than that, top notch work my friend!

I am going to lighten him up a bit so I will get out the paints this weekend, mix up a custom color and dry brush on a highlight coat. Then I will frost up the spines a bit.

Military: That is actually a molded in detail. The spines have a bumpy texture to them, you just saw one of the bumps. Highlighting will bring it out better.

Thanks Q, Mothra is in the dio, finished her up this weekend. King Gidrah is making progress, the only thing I have left is to figure out how to do the seams on the necks. Got the tails done!

Norm: The color for Godzilla was Nato black, a Tamiya color. XF-69. I did not mix it with anything. The toes and fingernails were painted with Citadel Bleached bone.

I am fighting with life right now. My AC went out last night and I got almost no sleep. It is 85 in the house right now and will get over 100 if it doesn't get fixed soon. (I live in south Texas and the daily highs are 100 F.) I can't get much done when it is that hot in here and I can't really sleep. As you can imagine, it is causing all sorts of trouble....
