The adversaries face off....

Great looking trees G. Only thing I could say is be sure the trunk is thicker near the base - which I think it is - hard to tell with the clamp-o-las. This is gonna be a sweet dio.

The trees look great.
You mentioned that they look a bit sparse. I think they look dead on for 1/35 or similar scale.
With the particular scale for this project you might get away with filling the open areas with the clump foliage from Woodland Scenics or something similar.
They look great regardless.

Interesting Trees,

have you got a video of the tree's being made ?

Sure enough, I am not done with the trees yet, I want to make a few more and try a few different things before the video comes up.

Scalemodeldisciple: I am going to do some clump foliage in places. I am waiting for the movies to come in so I can say for sure.

asJarra: I will take a look!! But there are a few trees located here:

http://www.sceneryexpress.com/products.asp?dept=1130&pagenumber=1&sort_on=&sort_by=

Some of these would work very well. But I want to try my hand at making them first. I would be happier that way.....

Here are a couple more photos with my tape up of King Gidrah for scale:

And the last photo shows the 1/350 people for the castle model so you get an idea of scale......

Oh yeah and a new video update detailing the Big G's seams and my lucky discovery.....

Godzilla build log part 5: Seamzilla's revenge!

WOW, the figures give a great sense of scale to this beast ,thats one big fella !!!, Great work Grendels .

Chris.

Amazing how happy accidents can happen. Excellent work on him so far.
Like seeing the sense of scale with the figures.
Trees seem to be working out

HAPPY ACCIDENT!
That's awesome. Bob Ross would be pround Mr. Grendels.

Can't wait to see him stomping all over the scene!

Great bit of luck with the aves. You should now go and buy a lottery ticket or get to a casino. You cannot lose!

I think the trees look great. Don't think they are too thin at the base, especially at that scale.

You have sparked my curiosity to the point where I have ordered "Godzilla & Mothra: Battle Earth & King Ghidora" from Amazon. I must be mad!

Those figures look great. Bet your glad they were pre-painted!

Keep up the good work.

Thank you everyone!

And yes those figures put it in scale....

And Haggistom I am very happy that those figures are pre-painted. I do have some that are NOT painted, but they were purchased for a future 1/350 scale model.

The trees are still bothering me, so I will make a few more. I will post what I do.

Since some of you are getting into this, I am going to start throwing in a bit of history on the movies.

Here is a documentary on the Godzilla suit:

Making of the Godzilla Suit!

Coming together nicely Grendels, the trees are looking cool.
Not sure how this would look but what if you glued some of the clump foliage on to the wire frame trees to add some bulk to them then glued some of the parsley flakes on top of the foliage for a more leafy look. :-\

Java: I am going to experiment some more with the trees. I am not happy with them for this diorama. If it was say 1/100 I think they would be fine. (I spent my day yesterday looking at every tree I drove past......) The size is OK, but something just doesn't look right to me. I will give your suggestion a try and post it here.

Quaralane: In the future I will keep my "history" about Godzilla to the subject of models. The models on the movie sets is about 90% of why I am here. As a kid, I was fascinated by the sets that they used and amazed at how detailed they were. In my mind I thought that they had two or three people working on the models for the movies for years, only for a guy in a rubber suit to stomp them flat in 5 minutes.......

I so wanted to be that guy in the rubber suit!

Hi Grendels

Well brother you know how to pick them! I do like where this is going this should be awesome when done. I admire your stick-to-it-ness this project is huge.Looking forward to when you start mocking out the diorama.

For your trees try the Woodland Scenic natural trees they are very effective and you can tailor them to the size you need.

Your doing a great job
