Decided on my next project.
It's the AMT/Ertl "Interplanetary UFO" reissued by Round 2.
As to the base build, it's going to be stock, out of the box.
The kit goes together really well, and very quickly.
This was done all today.

It's a quick build, that's for sure.
Have to admit that I'm already regretting my decision to keep the bay so it can open.
May just lock it open once I have paint on her and have the little scout coming up out of the bay

Man I like that alot ,( I'm a sucker for spacecraft) I might have to track one down ...did you turn the lights out to see it glow yet ?

Thanks, RocketSilo
It was glowing fairly well last night when I went to bed.
But, like I said in the video, the whole ship won't be glowing when I get done with her.

Quick update on the Yuri Gagarin,
I've got the majority of the seam work done, and have a primer coat on her.
I've sealed what I have so far with a coat of semi-gloss in preparation for decaling.

I think they did it to get the model into a smaller box back in the 70s, Grendels.
But, yeah, that seam sucked.

this is coming along nicely !..are you going to keep it like new,or give it a bit of weathering?..If some of the glowing plastic was allowed to streak thru , it would be so cool in dim light as if some strange plasma had been streaked across it... I know it sounds kinda far out, but would be so cool !

@RocketSilo
She's gonna get beat up pretty good, actually. Already using the "beat up" name plates for her.
Once I get the decals done and sealed, I'll beat her up. Going to have at least some of that glow plastic showing through when I'm done.

@Scott,
Thanks, man

Okay,
Decalling work is now done on this one. She just needs to be sealed up before I start the weathering process.
I've decided NOT to do this as the "pirate ship."
Instead, I've gone in using the "distressed" markings with the intentions of making her a "ghost ship."

Looking sharp there!! I need to get into one of these polar lights kits that has all the decals so I can practice my decal skills.

Thanks, Grendels
The back end decals weren't too bad. Just a lot of them in a small area.
You want a serious decal challenge, go grab the 1/1000 Enterprise Refit

Seal her up and damage her up!

That's looking really good. What a ton of decals - and you're right getting those long pin stripes straight is a trick. Yours layed down really well.

Thanks, Scott. I was fairly patient with these.

And now, for the final update
Okay, this build is finished.
After getting another coat of sealer on her, the "ghost ship" Yuri Gagarin is done.
After the sealer, I went in with the brush wheel on my Dremel and scuffed up bits of the hull.
Then, using a combination of matches and model glue, I went in and scorched bits of her hull for a combination of possible damage from her last battle and weathering. (BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS SORT OF WORK)

Thanks, RS. May still go back and do some drybrush work with metallics, and give her a flat sealer coat
