Well, I got my second delivery so I'm excited again! Haha. I've already ordered aftermarket kit for the HB pola kit, the bearcat will join my 1/32 hellcat and wildcat in waiting and Prince of Wales will have to wait until I've got some space issues ironed out.

So excited to get notice that this kit had been delivered. Then I find it's missing two sprues!

I emailed the seller who told me they checked the order before mailing. The thing is they packaged it really well, lots of bubble wrap and included two extra items not listed but not even a "let me double check", I'm sure they think I'm scamming them. I just wanted the kit! So I complained to eBay and contacted PayPal to reverse the charges. I'll see what happens. I don't think I'll use PayPal again if I can avoid it- much more difficult process than contacting my bank. I truly hope they find the sprues and send them to me.

I built that German "G" last year, it was a good kit.

Yeah, I can't decide which to build first, so I'll build 2 at the same time. I'll do the Eduard Limited G in camouflage and a Kinetic C with a bare metal finish. Been practising the latter using Xtreme metal as I have had to put my current project to one side (Eduard Bf109 G6) as I managed to make the Dark Aluminium I have sprayed on it refuse to fully cure (lesson learnt; too thick a coat). This is annoying as one of the pluses of the Flory Models review of these paints was you could get away with even flooding an area by accident, (which I don't think I did). Anyway, I'll now get cracking with them now before the Austrian GP

You all know I'm new to armor so this might be funny. My zimmerite tools arrived today. Which I bought for this tank. Which was in the Battle of Kursk...sigh.

Plenty of Panther Ds had Zimmerit, so no worries Going by the photos I just looked at, the pattern usually seems to have been short horizontal or vertical ridges with a grid pattern scored over everything, like this:

This is easy enough to do on a model by making the ridges as normal and then scoring those lines in with the back of a knife. As with all matters Zimmerit, practice first on leftover parts or something, though.

Though note that Zimmerit was not supposed to be applied to mudguards (like it is here), Schürzen plates, horizontal surfaces, etc.

What? How come when I look up information on my phone it tells me at the Battle of Kursk not one Panther D had zimmerite

I tend to try and be generally accurate, but if there is a feature or a technique I really wanna build, that's what I do.

Sometimes a vehicle might end up with several features of different variants, because I don't have the time, money or inclination to build them all separately!

It looks like you're trusting AI- often wrong. I use AI too to ask questions but I've found it works best if I know enough to be able to say "No that's wrong". Then I will get "you're right after looking at the picture closer that is…"

I'm the same. I also think it's impossible to say a color was never used etc. there were shortages and oftentimes crews used what they had on hand. There are no absolutes in my book.

That is indeed what I was trying to say, but I realise now that I didn't make that all that clear Zimmerit was introduced in mid-1943, but it generally took until the autumn for factories to actually begin applying it, and units were ordered to apply it in September. As the Battle of Kursk was in July 1943, tanks present there would not have had Zimmerit, but Panther Ds in service in late 1943 or beyond would likely have had it.

Hey now. I didn't mean to cause a big Rumble I was just trying to bring a smile because stupid me bought tools to put on zimmerite for this particular Tamia model 35345. The funny part is the decals supplied for three different tanks all fought at the Battle of Kursk.

The main thing that marks your kit out as a "Kursk Panther" is the number of bolts around the outside of the wheels: only 16. They quickly discovered this was not enough, as the rims started breaking, and the quick fix was to double the number to 32 as this was easy to implement. After that, a slight redesign brought it to 24 bolts per wheel. If you don't care about such details then you can just keep the wheels as they are, of course.
