Hey there everybody,

Well time to do some more scifi stuff. This time it's a Republic Star Destroyer from Revell. Not going for a super accurate look but I am adding a bunch of surface greeblies and lighting this bad boy up. Got the light kit from Madman to use as a base. Here is where I am at the moment:

The tower part, bunch of .25 and .5 mm holes drilled so far:

Closeup of the trench detail from the box. It's not that bad. I may or may not add to this, haven't decided yet:

Here is the start of it all, the lower section:

And the top:

And just continuing to work on the lower bits:

Long long ways to go. Thanks for looking.

Definitely off to a nice start. Been awhile since I saw one of those get built

Looks like a really cool kit. Good start so far. Is this kit still available somewhere?

Having a tough time locating one anywhere. Those on E-bay seem to be all international and over $100. :(

I'll may just have to enjoy your log of the build. :)

Some updates:

Expanding out to the rest of the lower area:

The rear trench area, I'm pretty much done adding detail I think:

And the shuttle bay area:

Again not going for screen accuracy just wanted to do some extra detailing. thanks for looking

I have one of these sitting waiting for an upgrade. Looking forward to seeing your mods, looks great so far.

That is coming along very nicely. All those little extra details are giving this kit some real character. I really like this build of yours.

Thanks guys. Look what came in the mail!!!

Got these from Mr Sagan, they look great and are a huge improvement over the stock offerings.

Work is slow but steady, here is a section of the lower hull:

All I am really doing is taking thin styrene and cutting small rectangles to work with, then I just cut the various shapes and place them down. Really easy to do. All the other detail is various ship and tank parts I had left over. I'm not sure if I'm going to try to make the sides look symmetric or not.

Thanks for looking.

Leave the sides asymmetric. That'll cause a LOT fewer headaches with this kind of detailing.
What you'got so far looks excellent

Nice work!!! Glad you like the parts. FYI I just made a 3D hangar for this kit if you're interested. Screen accurate. http://shpws.me/J9nM

If you dig around on Shapeways there are also some really nice inserts for the engines that work well with my parts

That trench is looking awesome.... ;D

Your choice but I wouldn't worry about symmetry on an area like that

Very nice work! Its amazing how adding all the little detail it gives the ship such a better sense of scale.
