OK, so I am going to tackle this one as my next build until I can find a replacement canopy for the 105...

Four sprues contain most of the parts...

So I ordered a resin cock pit for the Monogram version figuring it should be pretty close to the Revell. I ordered it because I can not get the kits 3 piece seat to go together in anything approaching a reasonable manner. I also suck at cock pits and am hoping the resin version will be easier to work with. Every time I try painting instrument panels on anything under 1/32 it looks like a 5 year old did it.

So any tips on doing instrument panels will be greatly appreciated.

Also, I was thinking of doing this one in desert camo, but can find no pics of actual A-10s in that pattern. Have they not been done over in desert for all the fun in the sand box?

For the cockpit just lay your dark base color down first, let that dry, then dry brush a lighter color on top of that. If it's the knobs and buttons that put you off kilter try using a toothpick as a brush and just poke your colors on to the knobs and buttons. I don't know if you would want to use a wash in the cockpit as these modern jets are usually pretty clean on the inside. A wash will add depth but also grime things up a bit at the same time. Did you ever think of trying a photo etch cockpit set? Extremely tiny little pre painted pieces that kick but and give the WOW factor. But be warned....these can drive you batty!

my favorite plane of all time. I look forward to watching this progress.

Man the black and white scheme just below the desert one is pretty darn cool!

Your resin set should work fine--it's the same kit. This was added to Monogram's catalog just before the merger with Revell. It's been re-issued many times since then, under the various brandings that Revell-Monogram have used.

I'm looking forward to your build, this is a classic Monogram design.

Orthanq, thanks! I will likely use that as a base and use the decals in the kit. I know that's not totally realistic, but ah well.

Glorfindel, I am going to search for photo etched stuff today. Is that a Red Devil or a Flowerhorn as your pic?

Baron, that is pretty much what I was thinking.

Thats the same kit I have I got a resin cockpit for mine to I am doing mine in the new winter cam color it does look cool.

Heres a link for A-10 in desert cam for you smokeriderdon there are meny different ways to do it.

OK, so update. This is my first build after a good 15 years hiatus. And certainly the first ever public build I have done. I ordered the resin cockpit from Squadron as I mentioned and then the PE kit for the Hobby Boss kit from Eduard. Figured same scale, same plane, ought to work OK. So, be kind to me guys. ;)

So, two complaints on the resin kit. One...how small CAN they make those directions? I had to scan it and print it full size to read it. When I was 20 I don't think I could have read the ones provided. LOL Two, do all resin kits have THAT much extra as "sprues" Good Lord I have not sanded and cut that much on a model part ever.

So, after waiting over a week to get the PE from the Czech Republic, I dove into the cockpit. After the aforementioned task of removing the extra resin, I took the Dremel to the details to smooth out the surface for the PE. I decided to risk hand painting the seat verses using the PE because the detail was so good...

I then weather the seat with red/brown artists pastel. First time I tried this and I rather like it! I did a very light dark gray wash over the PE to age it without making it look too dirty. I think it all turned out fair decent.

So next is the rear deck of the cock pit and the interior of the fuselage halves. Should have some more progress in a week or so. Especially since I am not waiting on international mail now. LOL

smoker - you mentioned references, here are some I found. The first is one of the best walkarounds of any aircraft i've ever seen. Some details may differ from the actual airframe you're building but that's always the way with references :)
