Dan,

I have been following this one on Face Book. It's really looking outstanding man! Thanks for sharing your paint mix, I really like the colors!

Thanks John much appreciated fella ;) i have made some progress on the base to which the panther will live im copying the ref photo as close as i can with a few added extras behind the tank

2 cake bases spaced apart by polystyrene to cover up the gap i used styrene textured in the same process as the tank cobblestones carved into xps foam

Can you give us more detail on producing that cobblestone surface ?
Thanks ,
Keith

Certainly i can ;)

I started by marking out the width of the bricks im basing mine around 5mm wide by 7 mm long

IMG_3865_zpsf41683d0.jpg

Then using a sharp blade it has to be sharp or it will rip the foam cut the line you have just measured

IMG_3868_zps7e9830d8.jpg

Now cut in the lengh of the bricks using a craft knife

IMG_3870_zpsd34d3ee4.jpg

Use a cocktail stick or large needle to scribe in the mortar joints

IMG_3871_zps2babbde7.jpg

For added effect i snap up a small piece of balsa wood roughly the size of the brick use the splintered edge and tap down onto the bricks this gives you the texture then press down on a few bricks and this gives you the uneven effect

hope this helps a few of you

Thanks , DanB

Which type of foam exactly --- and I assume the finished surface remains fairly delicate ?

Have you ever made a mold from this process ?

Keith
