Masterbox 1:24 Scale Series, #1 "The Heist"

I'd stir it if the solids have settled to the bottom -- moderate shaking during use isn't goin to be much of an issue .

This reminds me of bartending back in the day and one of my colleagues telling a customer that shaking a martini " bruises the gin "
I so much wanted to say something but , the show must go on I guess .

These figs are looking great, Shark! I see the subtle blues coming through very well. Ruck On, they're looking great.

I may be late to the conversation on matt varnishes, but I recently had to rethink my matt coats from Testors rattle can to Tamiya Flatt Clear, XF-86, 50/50 with X-20A thinner in the airbrush. After testing Mr. Color GX113 and Tamiya brands, Tamiya takes the cake, airbrushed or painted. Tamiya was just so much easier to use and the finish was dead flat. If you need to add a slight sheen in any location, just take a q-tip, rub your nose, and apply. Ya, that sounds strange, but it works, just like finger grease will leave a slight sheen.

Also, mixing with a tooth pick works just fine, but I just rolled the bottle on the desk back and forth, good enough of a mix to do the job well.

Ruck On, looking good!

So, tried the Tamiya weathering kit, didn't do much, but was worth a shot.
Ordered the AK matte and will use that.
Started kit # 3, the wounded bystander.
Started with primer(s) and began blocking some colors.
Not sure about the brown leather jacket, (vs black) but sticking with the purple mini dress, poor "Sara" she's not having a good evening. All dressed up for a nice evening and winds up in the middle of a gun fight...

Thank you!
Great info as well

I ordered the AK Matte, and went ahead and grabbed the Tamiya detail masters sets G and H for figure detailing and aging. May help.

Finished the Sarge, put multiple coats of yellow on his stripes, but couldn't seem to pull a nice straight line. Too much coffee in the mornings. I should've etched the lines a bit deeper with my panel line etcher before painiting, it would've given me a better base for the yellow and then panel liner to delineate the chevron patches. I think once I complete "Sarah", I'll go back to vehicles.... no organic colors on those, ha ha.
Put a bit of detail onto Sarah this morning, cleaned up some lines and added a few more coats of color onto her skin. Still some more detailing to be done.
Going to stay with the natural brown on the leather jacket, but now I'll have to paint her shoes purple, something about a matching outfit, which my lovely wife pointed out this morning- (eyeroll).

Coming along, as soon as the AK matte arrives, I'll put a coat or two on the officers, and now Sarah's dress as well and get rid of that shine.
I have been very pleased with these kits, the details are great, and the flash/mold lines are minimal, though the victim's kit had a bit more sanding required and some rougher mold lines. Overall, these are nice little kits.

Ok, WOW!!!
I wanted to post the AK Ultra Matte is absolutely amazing!!!
Thank you Uromomo!!! Great advice-
The matte really brought out the color variation and finished the figures. Very happy with that stuff.

I also used the Tamiya face kit a bit, not sure how it's coming along, I kind of feel like Ross (on Friends) when he did Rachel's make up and she looked like a street walker- Make up is not my thing. I did try to get some mascara running down her cheeks, eluding to tears.
I also spent the better part of an hour painting her tiny heels and straps. Something I'd never thought I'd be doing, much less telling others-
Coming along and will continue working.

That's the one you said you found on Amazon ?
ScaleHobbyist stopped carrying it long ago . Figured AK discontinued it .

Yes, typed it in on Amazon and it came up with a larger bottle (too much for me) so scrolled down to find a smaller bottle and found this one. Explains why its so old.

They like changing the label up for reasons I guess .
I think the earlier label was a bit different too ,, been too long to remember .

Now they are black labels , on that AK site .

Yeah , I remember the label before this one was definitely different .
Keeping some people employed for sure , ;)

Ok, got Sarah built up and added a handkerchief to try and stop her bleeding.
These were fun kits, and I clearly need more practice at figure painting, not sure if I'll go that route or not.
I'm a bit tempted to create a diorama for the figures and build another patrol car... hmmmm. We'll see

Dang, Shark, Sarah is looking great, and so are the boy and girl in blue!

I can't advise on acrylics, but if you ever cross back to the "side of light", i.e., oils, I can toss in a tech or two.

Ruck On, this is coming along most expertly.

P.S. Your secret painting high heels is safe with us, Brother:D

Thank you my friend! That is high-praise coming from you-

I only painted the high heels on a dare..... I was young and needed the money!!!!:D

Added a bit more details to Sarah and decided I should attach them to something. If I do make a diorama for them, I can rearrange them as needed.

I have these Art Cards (another product from my wife's Aunt's hoard clean out) and they seem to have no purpose, so I figured I'd use as small bases, cutting and painting them up to look like asphalt.
I'll put the figures on them with a little Tacky Glue, that way I can display them next to one of the patrol cars for now and either leave them, or remove them and put them into a purpose built dio later.
Bit of black, dry brush grey and white striping, instant street.

I like how those came out.....
the "diorama" reminds me of the shootout in the movie "Heat". :)

Great work!

That matte coat came out really nice. Looks as good as testors dull coate

Regarding the Vallejo matte. I never had a problem with it being shiny, but then again, maybe the formula was changed
Also, I brush it on instead of airbrushing. Not sure if that makes a difference

I know some of the old citadel and other various matte sprays could actually wind up a bit glossy if applied to heavily or evenly like rattle can or airbrush

Thank you.
The figures were brush painted, not sure why the Vallejo matt didn't work, but it left them shinier than before the application.
The AK Ultra Matte solved that and it will be my go to from now on.
