Just a new guy from the USA.
With the price of all other hobbies, I decided to trickle back into plastic models.
Just picked up a few KP 1/72 scale Cessna 180/185's and another Bird Dog to add to the dust collectors on the shelf!

The Bid Dog I plan to modify with 185 parts to make it a Cessna 321. Not sure what or how I want to modify the back window or the FWF. I have some spare constant speed props from the 180/185 kits and plan on making custom decals.

Hi and welcome to the heard.
Pantherman

Thanks guys.
Well on my way to opening a huge can-a-worms!
I decided to make an early small vertical stab 170 out of the 180 fuselage and the L-19 tail. I am taking the tail off of the 185 (larger vertical) and put it on the L-19 and make an OE-2 out of it.
I didn't like the way the large vertical stab looked like on the 180 fuselage, it kicked aft at an angle too much. I cut off the dorsal and making an early (small tail) 170

Still a lot of work to do, but it still be as nice as what you guys turn out!!

I am also waiting on decal information for the 185. I purchased several 180/185 kits (two windows/three windows), and making a mess out of them!!!

Don't like the larger tires on this one, but too late. The small ones are too small and I should have used the medium sized (8:00's)

Squaring up the 180 tapered wing to make an early 170 rag-wing. The aileron corrugated skin will be a little off but who's looking that close?

Left wing tip, Cessna 170B/180/185 tapered. Right wing tip, Cessna 170 rag-wing
Technically the "large" dorsal vertical stab on the OE-2 came out before it was used on the Cessna 180/185s. Initially the 180s had the smaller dorsal vertical stab.

Tail cone and "Large dorsal" vertical as installed. The smaller C-180 dorsal vertical/rudders were cut and used for the horizontal stabs and elevators for the OE-2. The OE-1 cowling bottom has been "plugged" (above photo) to somewhat make it look like the OE-2 cowling.
