I have three cats, one is six months old and the only broken ornaments have been broken by humans! The cats have not touched it once.

My two cats climb throughout the tree.

I think I am really lucky with that. The Kitten would rather harass the other two cats than climb the tree. But to be safe we set the tree up two weeks before we put on ornament on it. He probably got tired of climbing the tree before it was decorated.
