OH thanks Jakko yes im really looking forward to this build just got to hope it dont pee me off due to bad fits an the decals splinteringThat will be a cool-looking model, based on your earlier electrification efforts![]()
WELL ive seen one on the ground at BOB airshow in the early 70s at RAF COLTISHALL as they had several b planes there but i dint have a camera then in them day as could not afford one but it was huge or it seemed so to meVery cool. The B-58 is one of my favorite jets of all time. Wish I could've seen one in flight.
HI THERE yes glad to have you along on the build journey well just got to hope all the parts are there as someone has opened the bags but i will find out as i go along an yes i also love this plane as when i was younger i see a real one at a airshow at RAF COLTISHALL an she looked a big plane then an i hope you get one sirI'll watch this with interest. I love this aircraft, which only recently came to my attention, and a couple of weeks ago, I looked on Scalemates for 1/48 kits and realised they are all now long in the tooth and I was wondering if anyone would be doing a new mould. I know I couldn't do what you'll be doing with yours and bring an older model up to date.
Yeah, I'm a bit embarrassed I have been so unaware of the Hustler till now, but it looks an absolute beast!!! I have to say I think the Cold War era is a favourite period for me. It seems to me to have been like the Wild West, as designers were very much learning and trying out so many ideas. I love Formula 1, and it reminds me of that, when rules and regulations change, you will see more diversity of design, before over time the best solution becomes evident, and all the teams' designs eventually coalesce. So many cool designs in the 40s to 70s, They don't need to be effective for me to like them. The Hustler, like the F-104 (another favorite), had its issues, but being shallow, I just think they look coolHI THERE yes glad to have you along on the build journey well just got to hope all the parts are there as someone has opened the bags but i will find out as i go along an yes i also love this plane as when i was younger i see a real one at a airshow at RAF COLTISHALL an she looked a big plane then an i hope you get one sir

Wow, no wonder the love of aircraft, all that on your doorstep!! Though he played next to no part in my life after my parents divorced when I was 7 your recollections have reminded me that when I must have been 5 or 6, my dad must have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I must have said "Pilot", as I remember him bringing home a poster about RAF careers (He was an Electrician and was probably thinking along those lines to be fair) and taking me to East Midlands Airport to watch the planes take offf and land. Shame about RAF COLTISALLHI i dont think you need to be embarrassed as online here im seein planes near every day that i dint know they ever exzcited as yes where i live i can see RAF COLTISALL from my bedroom window now but back in the 70's i lived a bit further away but we were living in under the flight path for landing an yes i love the starfighters an nearly all the planes from that eara as near every day there would be different planes flyin over our house or i could jump on my bike an go up the crash gate or if my dad was working up there on that day then i could sneak in in his car but i still had to sign in at the gaudroom an then we went down to the MT section an i use to be able to go either with my dad or his freind who used to drive a refuleing bowzer an we go an refuel up the lightnings or later the jags what great times i had up there an now the idiots have closed it down an turned it into a prison oh dear

The first sonic booms I ever heard were a B58 Hustler. The engines were GE J79's. My dad was a design engineer at the GE Evandale Plant and we lived near the plant. As a salute to the team that made the engines, a B58 made several supersonic passes along I-275 less than a half mile as the bomber flies from the house. Had a great view from the backyard. Felt the booms rumble into my 6 year old chest.Very cool. The B-58 is one of my favorite jets of all time. Wish I could've seen one in flight.
