With 2 weeks left to the contest, I think I am in a good position to finish this model on time.

Good evening.
First the barrels for the 5.9" guns where all rolled, then the lower jackets were applied. With these done, moved on to the assembly of the turrets and barbettes.

After the turrets were complete the guns were glued in place. I used a piece of round stock to hold the guns at equal elevation while the glue cured.

I left them over night for the glue to fully cure. Then drilled the base of each turret and glued in place a pivot pin. As well each barbette was drilled to accept the pivot pin. They were then glued into their positions on deck.
The completed turrets were then inserted into their respected barbette.

Thank you Chris.
Working on the 14.96" guns. She's getting there. Should have more pics soon.

Good afternoon.
Been busy with the 14.96" guns. The barrels have all now been rolled.
This morning finished assembling the turrets. There were a few greeblies added to these.

This afternoon, those barrels were attached to the turrets and they are now in the process of drying.

Since these turrets have a pivot pin installed on the bottom, I needed somehow to have the turrets flat for the barrel attachment. I was going to drill a piece of wood for this. Then decided, I have my Vacuform machine sitting here, might as well make use of it.
I will let these dry over night and attach them to the ship tomorrow.
Getting near the end now.

Thank you Patrick.
To cast the barrels in one piece would make them too heavy, so the main barrel was cast in one piece, then compression jackets of a different alloy were cast and annealed to the barrel so they could take the pressure of the exploding powder and yet be lighter. This gave the guns this stepped appearance.

Some tweaking and she will be done.

Good evening everyone.
This project is nearing completion.
Finished assembling the 2 main cranes today.

At this point they are the only thing that will be rigged. I may go back at a later time and add more, we will see.
Tonight, these were then glued into position on to the deck.

Next up are the bow and stern Flag Masts.

I'm not using the supplied flags. They're too stiff looking. All the pieces have now been laminated and are in the press to dry over night.
