Just for fun and to get a good comparsion between the Revell and Roden Kits I started a third project, the conversion of an German Albatros D.III Into a ÖFAG producted version.

I try some new: I engraved new Panel lines (ÖFAG Albartos Airplanes had different planking) I painted the panels with different bright colors (Tamiya XF 4, 55 and 60) then I add many grain stripes with a small pencil. In the next step I will cover all with thinned oil color (Burnt Sienna, Lukas Studio 309). I guess that will work. We will see :D

some more

As you can see, the grain stripes are too thick, so I removed the Oil-color and tryed it again. It would be difficult to get right size for this scale...

Thanks Chris, I guess I get a feeling for those wooden fuselages.

I just read, Uschi van der Rosten . com sells paint-masks for grain structures in 1/48 scale. Nice idea, that will help to get realistic biplanes
