I decided to start out with a NASCAR subject. I am using the 1/24 Revell kit for a 2001 Intrepid driven by Awesome Bill from Dawsonville. Here is my start.
Nice, looking forward to this, built my first JR nascar kit a few months ago and I have very mixed feelings about it. Looks great so far!I decided to start out with a NASCAR subject. I am using the 1/24 Revell kit for a 2001 Intrepid driven by Awesome Bill from Dawsonville. Here is my start.

Ha same man, idk how many times I've had what I felt was a flawless build only to massively botch the window install or something like that, in fact it literally just happened yesterday…. I had the 2023 jr chase kit and they made the drive line too short and the instructions said to lengthen it by an 1/8", that drives me nuts, a known issue but they revise the instructions and pass the burden to the consumer, next was the requirement to use pennys as shims. Who has penny's these days and what if the builder isn't in the US? It should have came with a shim or a measurement. And lastly the decals, there is a definite learning curve to jr decals. I got the Larson 2024 I believe, as well so i haven given up on jr kits yet.something always goes wrong for me
Yea its never fun having to remake stock parts.Ha same man, idk how many times I've had what I felt was a flawless build only to massively botch the window install or something like that, in fact it literally just happened yesterday…. That stick looks uncomfortable.........Finished painting, black gloves. Now to finish decals.

Thanks, I don't build Salvino JR models, strictly Revell, Monogram, AMT, MPC or occasionally a Lindberg one. I tried a Salvino JR kit that was an old Monogram mold they bought and cleaned up the molds. The parts did not fit right and I got depressed and tossed it in the garbage. That's NOT a fair assessment as I think their own molds may be better than the 1980 old Monogram and Revell molds they are trying to fix. I am tempted to try one of their 2020-2024 NASCAR CUP car kits. That figure came out looking pretty darn good bud. I've not had the opportunity to build a Salvino's kit as of yet but.......I've heard many a horror story.
I'd be interested in seeing how those 2020-2024 NASCAR kits are. Hopefully they've learned some lessons from all of the negative feedback in the past. Word does have a way of making it back pretty quickly these days. Thanks, I don't build Salvino JR models, strictly Revell, Monogram, AMT, MPC or occasionally a Lindberg one. No worries man. The last part of my message above was one of humility and I didn't mean to offend or to be nitpicky. If I did, I truly apologize as being offensive as that is just not my way. That's a nice idea BUT why would I want to cut out black faced dials when the ones on the real deal are WHITE!!!!! I am not into just detail, the color has to be correct too or it' s a moot point! The decals on the kit I have are BLACK not WHITE.
