1/32 vs 1/48

Good evening fellow addicts! Quick question, does 1/32 scale offer better detail than 1/48? Also, is there less sanding, filling, and fit issues? (I'm thinking those are going to be pretty standard though). I'm havi g so much fun with the aircraft I've already started thinking about future builds!

Very subjective question Adam.

In theory...yes a 1/32 kit would have more detail than a 1/48, but that isn't always true.

Look for any 1/32 Mig 21 on the market, and put it up against the Eduard 1/48 Mig 21s.....and the Eduard kits have much, much better detail.

There are others, that is just one example.

Flip side of that, take the new Tamiya 1/32 P-51, and compare it to any 1/48 P-51 (heck compare it to other 1/32 P51s as well) and you will be hard pressed to find a better detailed P51 kit.


As far as 1/32 aircraft being easier to build, less sanding, filling and fit issues....really depends on the kit, and the manufacturer.
