Dunno how complex that was ... Any way to scratch one with brass or styrene Evergreen?horizontal antenna
... Only if you really miss it of course
The rest of the superstructure looks great with all those ladders and railings!

If you write the manufacturer they are likely to send you a replacement part.View attachment 190287

Ok The hull, deck and superstructure and turrets are painted and unmasked. I do have some touch ups to do on the hull. My masking skills are lacking and the tweezers I was using scratched the paint in a few areas sue to my carelessness, but over all I am pleased with how it looks and I see where I need to go differently for any future ships (I have 4 planned).
One thing I am unhappy about is the horizontal antenna on the main superstructure got destroyed some how and I had to remove it, so one part is missing![]()
... Haven't tried that route myself... Yet.write the manufacturer
It definitely depends on the manufacturer. Airfix responded fairly quickly and sent me the needed parts. Academy never replied to my request.... Haven't tried that route myself... Yet.
Sounds like folks have had some success, depending on the manufacturer.
I might be able to make it from wire, but I don't know if my scratch build skills are up to it.Dunno how complex that was ... Any way to scratch one with brass or styrene Evergreen?

Didn't think about that route. I may do that. I'll see how she looks after I finish the build. If you write the manufacturer they are likely to send you a replacement part.
Do you have a rigging diagram, for when the time comes?I need more practice.
No I don't. I have some old photos of the Texas that shows some of the rigging, I'm planning on looking for some rigging plans though.Do you have a rigging diagram, for when the time comes?
I started experiencing them last year as well- Like you, and so many others I suddenly had a large blotchy shadow in my left eye. Freaking out I went right to our family Optometrist, who checked it out and explained the whole PVD thing, (thankfully, no tearing). It subsided over the months, but I've recently noticed it's gotten a bit worse in both eyes now. They are slowly dissipating, but it's like I'll see a fly in my peripheral vision, turn my head and it disappears.Another fun 50s change is "posterior vitreous detachment" which leads to "floaters " and in some rare situations can be dangerous. I had this happen a couple months ago in my left eye. The floaters were maddening! I was driving and kept cleaning my windshield thinking it was dirty, then I swatted at a "fly" a few times before realizing this was all "in my head". Floaters were irritating for about a month and just about the time they settled down… yup, right eye went.
I'll have to look into that. My optometrist told me the floaters eventually settle, I don't quite remember if she said the body will absorb them or not, if not I guess your eye ends up being like a snow globe- give your head a good shake and off you go! That does sound like a pretty involved procedure but it's nice to know it's available. Mine aren't near as bad as they were initially but it can be a nuisance.I started experiencing them last year as well- Like you, and so many others I suddenly had a large blotchy shadow in my left eye. While talking to another dr/friend, he explained he'd just underwent a Pars Planar Vitrectomy (not sure about the spelling) and he had some pretty bad PVD, but this procedure removed them all and fixed it. They remove the vitreous fluid the eye, replacing it with saline, which the body absorbs, replacing it with fresh vitreous fluid, in a nutshell. It's a very involved, difficult procedure, so not many Dr.s will do it.
I figure if it got bad enough, I'd hit my friend up for his friend and get him to do it, or at least see if I was a candidate.
Apparently, increasing your krill or fish oil intake can "help"..... not sure if this is legit or snake oil, but worth a shot.
Yes, I neglected to say that, my Optometrist said the same thing, (as does WebMD and other med sites) your brain will learn to "ignore" it and they'll become less noticeable. I did notice my Left eye's were fading, but as I mentioned, my right is also affected now. They are fading, as time goes by I notice them less, but every now and then, especially if I'm looking at a light colored wall, I'll see them clearly.Looked it up. No scientific studies back the fish oil. It does help with your eyes producing good tears though and may help with dry eyes.
There are two procedures- this I got from AI.
And floaters are not reabsorbed but, and now I remember my optometrist telling me this, your brain learns to ignore them. Kind of like a nagging spouse…
- YAG laser vitreolysis for carefully selected patients
- Pars plana vitrectomy, which is highly effective but carries meaningful risks such as cataract progression, retinal detachment, and infection
This is the therapy. Thanks, 3 however do need a little touch up to straighten the PE.
And after 2 hours of watching me assemble the AA guns, my family is convinced I need therapy.
