I started this in memory of my dad. He liked gto's and loved burgundy. Funny because he was named Ron too. He also liked convertibles but not sure he ever owned one. Ready for the 2k. Not sure if I ordered a motor for this one. I think this kit didn't really have one. It's late and I have a lot going on. I'll update later. Oops just realized I need to do the chrome trim before I do the 2k. So, almost ready for the 2k!

Looks great! Totally unrelated but the burgundy and convertible comment reminded me…. When I was really young we had a Oldsmobile cutlass supreme it was a like poop burgundy color, it was in fact not a convertible but removing a few screws you could take the top off, one summer the AC wasn't working and my dad just took the top off lol we also had a Datsun the the trunk would pop open at random times. Anyways your build looks great!

Hit this with 2k today. Really am liking the paint and my dad would have loved this color and car! Gotta start the engine.

That's awesome about the trunk! Haha I've had cats like that.

Wow. I just realized I started this in January! Need to get this done. Here's where I'm at. Plan on adding some hoses and wiring to engine and then installing the engine. Man I wish I had this car!
A little more. I don't use the 2k on the top cover, used a satin to differentiate it. Had to remove part of the bottom of the car interior and cut the "axle" in order to get the engine to fit. Installed spark plug boots and will add lines etc tomorrow. Hopefully wrap the final version tomorrow. I love the cream color interior with this red. It makes me want to look for this classic. I used to get 6 mpg back in the day- just can't see doing that now.

Being new to cars I'm curious … the plug boots. Are those something you buy as aftermarket or do you scratch build them? Do you find it easy to glue in the wires?

I bought the plug boots from the same place I purchased the motor. The motors are very nice but I've had to modify every car that gets an aftermarket motor. I'm having difficulty with the motor for the 68. Feel like I'm missing a part but the guy insists I'm not. I'm new to cars as well. This is my third. Well, 3-4 as I'm also working on a 68.

The wires aren't bad but I'm having trouble getting them organized. I'd like to be able to have them laid neatly- not that any of my cars when I was a kid were like that!

Sorry I'm still waking up this morning. I use CA and accelerator when I glue things such as the plug wires. Get a bit of glue on the end as when I mate the two hit it with accelerator and I'm done. If I have to hold a small part steady- that's a 50/50 chance I'll get it right. This narrows it down.

When you get a chance have a look at my post (The Foundry,) i have post in it with pre drilled distributers that can be found at Etsy, tall and short bodies, angle boots or straight. As of this morning all im finding on the site is the straight caps but im sure the others will be back soon.

You'll have to be more specific about the foundry with me. I did a quick online look and didn't see anything to do with modeling.

Im sorry, its one of my posts here on the site. Its full of all kinds of other printed parts to for autos and military. Put your cursor on Racer Xs face then on media and click it will take you to all my posts, its on page 6 of my posts. The thread is also on the automobile forum.

WOW, RacerX … you've got a lot of photos and stuff on media !! Thanks for teaching me something new. I went to the Texas 3D site and found their engines. Great stuff. Thanks !
Your very welcome, that is what the post is for, i will be updating it with more auto, military and space as i find the cool stuff. For more 3d try Hooligan scale models for more engines , parts and whole kits. For some great resin bodies Jimmy Flintstone, he has everything from stock to wild. On the Flintstone site if there is no picture of the car take the model number and google it you will find pics.
