Going off script from the box. I opted to do a two tone yellow/black theme and am digging it. Added on a brake line and am thinking of adding some wiring. Had some trouble with the interior of the cab causing the exterior to separate on drivers side rear. I trimmed some of the interior but in the end had to putty the back corner. Need to pick up some more yellow to touch it up better.Pretty good kit. Some sprue tabs were huge. Directions not so great at times but easy enough to figure out. Trying to get this wrapped up. Still deciding on finishing paint touches.

The black is Ak lacquer and the truck bed is Vallejo acrylics. I mixed it up a bit I guess!I use lacquer paints but for this I used testors enamel. Primed with Mr surfacer 1000 grey. I've not had much luck priming with water based and Hobby Lobby sells the primer for $10. I can usually prime 2-3 models with one can so I feel it's worth it.
What did you use for strips? I ordered some 1mm stainless rods to try to mimic the strips. Didn't think lead would be true enough.Great color. I think the bed could use some chrome strips. It really adds to the overall look.

I hear that all yellow spray jobs benefit from a pink primer coat. Can anybody confirm that? Thanks for posting your pics! What yellow did you use? I had chosen yellow as well but had coverage issues over the ghost grey primer. I used Vallejo primer and Vallejo Model Air basic yellow.
I did some investiGoogleing and it appears that pink is preferred for warmer colors or tone on the finished job whereas white is used to make it stand out bold and brightI hear that all yellow spray jobs benefit from a pink primer coat. Can anybody confirm that?
I don't know about that but I had to do a touch up on this truck and had put 5-6 coats on, got frustrated so hit it with grey primer- big mistake. I also have a at6 I'm working on that I decided to paint Mr color yellow-orange and primed it with oxide red- thought it would bring out the orange. 6 coats later…I think anything yellow is getting white primer moving forward.I did some investiGoogleing and it appears that pink is preferred for warmer colors or tone on the finished job whereas white is used to make it stand out bold and bright

Wrapped this up tonight.I received my stainless rods last night and have added them. Unfortunately the touch up I needed to do has extended this project. Argh! Had to buy some more yellow and naturally it was not a perfect match- same brand, same color but it looks different. So… popping off the chrome and will tape and repaint. I was hoping to have my finished pics on Monday but maybe next Monday.
