Q: Should I BMF before or after gloss coat? I want to foil the "running boards", which will be a relatively large surface area as opposed to thin striping...
I've done both. If your paint layer is smooth and glossy you can do it before, if not then BMF after a nice smooth gloss clear coat. I have also found that a nice gloss clear coat over BMF shouldn't diminish the shiny of the BMF.Q: Should I BMF before or after gloss coat? Gound it.What is BMF?
Good!Found it.
Bare Metal Foil. I'm actually using Hasegawa Mirror Finish foil. It stretches better and is more adhesive then BMF. However, with a more flexible "rubbery" texture, it's trickier to cut with a blade. What is BMF?
Thanks. That's a nice compliment.Nice recovery throughout the build. Looks great.
Welcome back to the open road, we are here and trying to build up the clan, stop by my page and check out my media if you would like a little inspiration.Watching! Im attempting a comeback to automobile modeling, seems theres not too many active car builders out here. Nice post with pics. Hope my models come close to this one overall with details.
Always follow the K-I-S-S rule when painting a body.I've said it before and I'll say it again, you car guys are incredible. If my life depended on it, I could never get such a clean and clear finish on a dinner plate, let alone a car model, sheesh! I think I'll stick to the old carpenter's rule, F-it, they can tape it, or,............the sign of a good carpenter is knowing how to "hide" his mistakes. Ya, I'll stick with that last one, HA!
Awesome finish, great job, Cal!
