I'm starting to get into some rc projects... Tanks and military equipment mainly. I will be even combining some scale models with rc projects.

There are lot of great rc tanks out there. Ome require major modifications to be right so to say. Some are minor cosmetic modifications needed so on. But I build sometimes in 1/16 so RC is available at that scale.

I don't have tanks but I got a crawler, a trail truck, and a rock bouncer that I've built. By built I mean they were kits I've assembled and upgraded.

I spent about 5 years in some modest and some serious RC competition, 1989-1994 or so. Even attended regional meets (where I did well) and national ones where I was shamed.

RC is awesome! But I do not think (the stuff I did) it is related to scale modeling.

I mean the only relation to mine is I painted them…..😂

Lower left corner, this is about all I have left from that era of my hobbies. The Lexan cover to the mechanical racecar comprised of titanium/carbon-fiber/nylon and some high-dollar (at the time) electronics. The wear shows, but is was purpose-built, not for show :-)

the only relation
... I can't help but notice that many a LHS is now partially or completely devoted to RC...
And I bet there are many other overlaps beyond the paint... a thread for styrene addicts who also are into RC could be interesting!
I mean, not just cars, but planes and boats too: @BOATMAN would certainly fit in!

That's a fact, the hobby shop close to me is now 1/2 rc, down to one small isle for model kits and one small isle for related supplies ( parts, paints, brushes) the rest is trains and diorama material then a small section of misc stuff like puzzles and magazines. Anyways yeah, the rc section even has its own customer service counter and employee with more parts and stuff behind the counter. The build your own rc kits and addition of rock crawlers really blew the rc world up overnight it seems.

Some rc models require lot of modifications to be done to what a Scale modeler would consider remotely correct...

Here is an example.... https://www.rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=26093

A lot of scratch building on. Heavy modifications on that particular tank... I m doing that model right now and some of the modifications in that thread. I am using some model parts from my model stash even on it.

It also at the end will be painted weathered so on just like any model I would do...

Should I just open up a build log under armor even though it's rc?

I'm pretty new to the forum so I guess I'm not 100% sure how to go about contacting a MOD to see if a new category can be added but I would suggest creating a thread in the " announcements and support" section to get a MODS attention. That being said I agree that a rc section would be beneficial and I'd love to see a WIP about your build.

I have no interest in RC. Why not start an RC site of your own? If you are that adamant go for it, count me out. I stopped going to most sites as they are becoming more facebooky , seems modeling sites are more social sites than actual modeling sites. I went to most sites to pick up ideas and learn, I've seen sites where it's all talk and no show. Rant off.

Oh no please dont force me to git back into ra-d-0 con-troled things. I have been wanting to get this thing between 4 wheels for years now, 70mm ducted fan. If i can find my buggy and take some pics, and scan pics of the dragster i will add them to the post later.

Ha of course you got something like this in the works 😂🤣 never a dull build with you.
A wile back i found a 1/10 scale 57 chevy roadster body, no roof a flat deck with the roll cage coming through off to the driver side. Would have been enough room for the engine and exhaust tube. The biggest problem is mounting this thing in a chassis.
