yeah yeah I know what I said but insomnia struck last night and I wanted to build. First, can't believe how small this plane is. This will be a strictly box build for me- too small and was cheap kit. I usually use kits like this to practice and get a feel for the craft. Plus I do my research while I'm building, I know, I know, but my attention span isn't great. Anyway I'll practice then purchase a bigger scale kit and detail that. So last night started cockpit, primed it with one shot primer by hand because it was 1 am. It was better primer than I remembered. Hit it this morning with AK dull aluminum for a base coat because I will weather this and my preferred method is to give a metal base and then scratch my wear n tear into it. This plane is seriously small! I had no idea. Not a bad little kit so far.

Cockpit painted and detailed, fuselage together. Started on wings but I'm don't for the night. This should be fairly quick to complete. Expect the rest of my shipment tomorrow so who knows may get distracted again. Still waiting on my two part varnish for the 67 gto.

I spent some time on this today. Thought I'd get it painted but taping the panel always steals my mojo.

When you say this plane is seriously small what, may I ask, are you comparing it to? I just built a 1/48 P-40 L and is small compared with a 1/48 Tomcat!

I like doing 1/32 and 1/24 but I also have run out of room with my display so I may have to compromise. Here's a 1/24 hawker hurricane I did. I originally bought the bigger kits to avoid the tiny parts- learned a lesson there! I also didn't realize the actual size of the p40.

I think he's comparing it to a 1/32 scale kit. I can't help but wonder what he thinks of 1/72 scale! Myself, I consider 1/32 seriously huge.
Haha. Actually my very first kit was a 1/72 kit I ordered online. When I opened it I thought "What the heck???" I've done a couple when I was wanting a quick build. As I said I'm running out of space so may have to rethink my desire for the large scale models. But I do have a 1/24 Dauntless waiting to be built… I may just attach a real engine to that one and learn to fly!

I changed the brown, decals applied , underside built. Have some more work to do but hopefully wrap this up this weekend.
Finished this up today. I'm pretty happy with it although when it was drying I messed up part of the finish, small blemish. This is Col Edward F Rectors plane. Originally part of the avg in china who stayed on with US Army Air Force's command and was a key leader in the china task force. I believe he had ten kills and had a great reputation as a fighter pilot with the P40.
