Just a quick build. This will be USAAF P40-E 11th FS/343rd FG, Aleutians, 1942. Olive drab and grey , taking a little liberty with landing gear and some of the hardware.

Attached everything and threw on decals. This was an old kit I picked up at the store, shop owner had purchased it from someone offloading old kits. Point is decals were a bit fragile- lesson learned I will definitely apply a gloss varnish when working with fragile decals moving forward. I'm going to have to tape and paint the stripe on the rear stabilizer as that decal disintegrated as I was trying to apply it. I'm going to let it set a day then apply a varnish, paint the stripe and weather. Kit came with aftermarket canopy, flattened wheels and something else. I only used the flattened wheels. I'd never think to buy aftermarket material for a 1/72.

That's looking good, despite the issues with the decals. It looks a bit different to the usual sharkmouth.

So I pulled off part of the tail number with the tape for the white line. I varnished first but did not allow a full day of dry time so my fault. I thought about fixing the 9 but decided to leave it as wear. I'm thinking I should have probably weathered the rest of it a bit more to match the missing section of the nine. I'm rethinking 1/72 scale after this one. I like the faster build and realize now there's no reason they can't be detailed plus, today my shelving unit ran out of spots. Anyone want to make up squares on how soon my wife notices the models in the dining room??? Haha. Hmmm just noticed my wife has a print of the sun in the dining room on the shelf. Wouldn't it be highly appropriate to build and place my 1/32 Hasegawa kawanishi n1k2-J next to the sun??

A really nice little build Ron.

There's nothing wrong with 1/72 as a scale, you can get some nicely detailed kits these days. You can certainly fit more builds on a shelf.
