I may have accidentally cut the fuselage from the sprue and accidentally opened the PE set.....

So I have made a start. Cleaned up the pin marks, scraped back most of the panels ready for PE and fitted the PE which needs painting. All ready for priming and base paint later. Pantherman

Why do we do this to ourselves? PE took 3hrs but I kinda enjoyed it, I need help....... Most of this will never be seen. I put the matchstick in the photo to give scale.

Back to it tomorrow for round 2 of PE and I might actually get something built..... maybe. Pantherman

I'm doing some iffy biddy PE stuff as well. My 5X magnifier sure comes in handy.
First pic is some seatbelt bits. Second one is part of the cockpit.

Over all I like the model, it has nice details and 4 figures. When I saw that it had some deck crew figures (2). I immediately thought about building it on an aircraft carrier deck, then I saw the decal placement and paint guide. New Zealand 1943, I must. I have never painted a model in service to New Zealand. I must correct that.

Not having built any planes, I have no clue what colours to paint all those interior details... or what any of them are!

There's lots of great resources online to help you out between learning and/or getting by with just getting correct colors in the right spot. Plus, most decent kits, between the decals and the instructions/paint call-out, cover it. And a last resort, there's always things like Eduard pre-finished PE and Quinta Studios 3D decals… or, like Pantherman said, once it's closed up, most of it goes away anyway ‍♂️. Chalk it up to Fun and a learning experience

I actually thought I might finally try jumping in to something on here instead of just hiding amongst the weeds. Instead, I've run into 2.5 problems… I decided to "try like hell" to have something for ModelPaloza in Kissimmee/Orlando (Oct 10-12[?]) and the 3 dive bombers in my "stash", aside from all being 1/32, 2 are fixed wing(Hasegawa' Ju-87 Kanonvogel and Trumpys SBD-5) which create display issues at the moment(hence why I haven't been building any planes at present). The .5 part of the problem is I do have 1 that could be displayed with 1 wing folded and 1 down(my plan for all my 1/32 USN WWII planes minus the SBD and the F4F-3) is it's an HpH 1/32 SB2C Helldiver. I've built resin ship models and used resin upgrades on AFV's and softskin vehicles, but an ENTIRE plane… I won't lie, when I opened that box, the first thing they my head was "What the HELLdid you DO?" Packed it up and put it away. And like a fool, ordered the F7F Tigercat when that was released ‍♂️
Beautiful details, directions look solid, I'm just worried. You only get 1 shot to screw stuff like that up… A Group Build would've been the perfect place to undertake this project… Story of my life, either a day late or a dollar short!
In the meantime, I truly enjoy watching the amazing builds yall keep posting. And Thank You to whoever it was that added me! This has been nice to read thru over my coffee each morning…

Sorry about the weird symbol, that wasn't the smiley face I added!

This caught the first wire coming in.

Nice

We got 3 of these going now.

I'm going with the Guadalcanal 1942 decals and paint scheme. Might save the figures for the Revell 1/48 kit I am hoping to pick up at some point for the tri-color scheme and carrier deck dio

Are either of you going to make any improvements on it or build out of the box with the working gear?
