Started this last night because I've the flu and wanted to build something simple. This is about as simple as it gets. Apparently I had looked at this kit earlier and put it away, in the process I misplaced the pilots platform. I was going to simply skip the pilots as there is nothing to this interior, it's so small you would hardly notice, I had picked up the kit for about $12, and the size of the canopy with its support structures makes it difficult to see the interior anyway. But, I looked through my spare parts and thought I could pretty easily throw something together. I chopped up a gauge from a 1/72 kit so my story is the pilots have really bad macular degenerative disease. It's a Buffalo Bill version which I believe is not historical anyway.

Here you go! I'm not doing too much with this kit but I did dress up the interior in a very basic manner.

Hope you feel better soon. Pantherman

Wow this plane had large wings!
So I am done with paint. I'm trying something different with the canopies. Instead of masking and painting I used paint markers to hit the canopy structure then I just taped the entire canopy for painting. I didn't affix the turrets yet will do that tomorrow but am doing the same with them. It's a heck of a lot easier this way, the only drawback is that the markers may not match the paint exactly but the overall paint scheme is faded and patchy so a match wouldn't be expected. I also am reasoning that the paint under glass is going to fade differently as well. Let me know why you think when I post final pics.

Did some touch up. Kit didn't come with windows so I opted to paint the "windows" silver and apply an epoxy over them. I did add weight to the nose for balance. I had to make a front wheel cover since I wanted to have this wheels up, also had to modify the main gear which was pretty simple. I'm looking th shading and should be able to varnish tomorrow.

Put final coats of varnish on today. I've been experimenting with doing a base of satin after weathering and then I hit some areas with gloss, (exhaust, wing roots) and then other areas with matte. I didn't realize I had built this model before but when organizing my shelves saw this b24 I built shortly after starting this hobby- I'm guessing around July is when I built it. I'm including a few new photos of the first build at the end for comparison. I think I've improved. Let me know what you think.

Apparently that was too many pics. Here's the old model.

... looking at the date I'd hardly believe it was the same guy!
But following the many builds you've posted, I've seen the improvement fer sure! Way to go!
Thanks BB! I try to learn something with each build. I've never been "artistic" so the shading and that have been a real learning curve. Knowing how much is too much etc. I actually let out a chuckle when I took the first off the shelf.

I think we have all looked at a first build and realised that we may have improved, just a tiny bit. Pantherman
