USS Texas BB-35 1/350

I do not want to get into anything remotely political, but as a long time fan of this ship and a contributor to her restoration, this news story (related to today and BB-35) really pisses me off!

I read about this the other day. If I were a restaurant owner I would welcome the ship as it could increase foot traffic.
However, I understand wanting to have the Harbor view instead of the grey girl.
But, from a business point of view... increase the foot traffic for more revenue.

I put the initial coat down, also to see if I like the Pacific Theater color. I like it. The last time I was aboard the Texas she had this color on.i still have a lot more to do, especially the aft deck.
I don't know if I'll do any weathering or keep it as a museum piece. Kind of leaning to no weathering, but then again if I do it would be subtle.

Plugging away. The smaller guns are very tedious.

So far this has been a really good kit. There isn't any flash, and the parts fit without any issues. Of the PE parts, the baskets are a little difficult to bend in a half curve.
Other than a couple of things theis is a fun kit, and something to take my time and enjoy.

This has been a fun build. It seems to really moving along quickly. I honestly have no idea where I'm going to display this gal, at 20" long and 4" at its widest point... possibly a floating shelf?

Nah, I figure Texans (and a few other states) are the ones who would not be offended.

Having said that, I feel a little offense at my own post...

Carry handle, gigantic optic that is either offset or partially blocked, VFG within inches of magwell, phone-cord, and dangling. I think it is just a very old picture that google gave me.

I do like his magnetic release, I think that is better than the smart-card types that work like your hotel-room doors.

I did see a couple things missing. Off set iron sights and most importantly AMMO!!!

Got one of the 2 cranes built and 6 of the big guns assembled. And some railing.
There is still so much to do even though some steps are quick.
But taking my time is what it's all about.

I had a near catastrophic accident.
Something fell on the ship knocking a few pieces off and only broke an anti aircraft gun and the top of the conning tower was detatched, and a couple of life boats. The cranes and big guns are not glued down, yet and they tumbled onto the floor.
Thankfully I was able to restore these parts back on.
I shudder to think of how horrible it could have been had I not caught the ship.

Oh. And to keep up to par. I did loose a tiny part... as I usually do. Lol
But, it is not a loss that would be noticeable.

I have never worked with so many PE parts as this ship has. My duck-billed tweezers are getting a workout.

Anyway, on with life.

In the background you might see my horse doing a head-stand. Ha! :-þ
