That's absolutely true- But, for many "boatniks", booze has nothing to do with their ineptitude.

Of course along the lines of mistakes, I went sailing on my in-laws sailboat, and we anchored outside Annapolis and took a water taxi into town. On the way back a few hours later, my father in-law was confounded by not seeing the boat anchored where he thought it was so the water taxi is going around the area and eventually someone flags us down asking if we lost a boat. Apparently the anchor didn't get set right/dig in properly and with the tide and waves just floated off on it's own for a considerable distance. It was about to start bumping up against another anchored boat so they tied it up to theirs to keep it safe.
I had never seen him so flustered and embarrassed

That's what we do: we muddle along—especially the armor folks … who have more MUDdle than the rest of us.
