I just started masking the canopy. I am going to display it canopy open and will mask and paint separately. The kit also has a full length closed canopy that I will tack in place to paint the upper fuselage. Then pop it off and install the open one.

That's a great idea, never thought of it. Pantherman

Use white glue (Elmer's) for that, it seals the cockpit and pops right off, residue can be peeled with tweezers...

Question for you all, I see you painted the propeller tips yellow. My instructions say all black. Did you get that from the instructions or are yellow tips historically accurate?

Both.

It depends on the service (USN/USMC/USAAF) subject (which aircraft) manufacturer (of the propellor) and year. Mine had tri-color tips in red/yellow/blue. I think around 1943 most services settled on the yellow tips but even then I'm sure there were exceptions.

It's your build, you can do whatever you want.
I rarely paint tips on my propellers

Yea I know. But I try to get it as authentic as I can as long as it's not too much work.

Got it painted today. I did a better job pre shading with this one and what a difference a good airbrush makes. Went from some crappy Amazon Chinese one to an Iwata.

Your plane looks great too! I use an Iwata 8-90% of my work, break out the Creos 771 when I need super detail work. I'd use it more but it is prone to tip clogging since it is so small. So I usually leave the end of the nozzle off and that is likely for me to bend my needle.

I am calling mine done too The weathering looks more subdued in real life. It was surprising how prominent it is in the pictures.
(I know two of the dive brakes the colors were reversed. I didn't notice until I finished assembly, just decided to roll with it )

I dont know if yellow tips are historically accurate. I usually paint them yellow. However, this build I dont think I will be painting the tips yellow.

So, Mr Barley finally getting into the action...
With a few modifications: I've found some builds online that are apparently truer to the actual aircraft, but those guys, like most of youz guys, aren't building their first bird!
So just so you know I actually started,
exhibit A:

Drilled some holes in the bulkhead behind the pilot seat, cut out and added some depth to the radios in the last bulkhead in the tail...
