the SS Rabid Empanada -- a spontaneous scritash

Hee Hee ;D

The thrusters are situated perfectly .
the struts , or pylons , can rotate 360 - the fire-cans orbit the joint .
easily pivot her around any-which-way 8)

I already have a paint scheme for them ..
need to finish them up -- they won't go on till the end though .

The windows are 20'4" tall

so you can picture an enormous gallery with plenty of volume above and below for the rest .

The entire skin of the main hull is a solar collector ;D

.. . can't wait to get painting -- still messing with some putty :p

Cheers !

Indeed ;D

.. I'm still dealing with seams from the kit modules , though :p :p ::)

If I had paid money for this thing ( the Revell Shuttle ) - to build as produced ... ::)
disappointing
to say the least :(

I've never seen such bad seam issues and this is the only kit I've seen with so many 'dents' and deformities in the parts

Hoping to get to painting the hull today ..
currently priming and detailing prior to it . . keep seeing issues .

Added to the docking module ;
4 docking nodes

I ordered some appropriate magnets for the maneuvering thrusters so I can keep them movable .
and I'm going to cut the fire cans from the pylons and rework them with magnetic connections so they're movable as well ;D

... and make the the service arm position-able ..

Hopefully some pics later with some color !

Happy New Year !! ;D ;D

Uru

??? ??? ???
.... the paint computer isn't giving me a starting color ...

:-\ :-\

20160102_195007_zpsc7q7ygzh.jpg

thinking blue/ green shifting to red gold outward ..
The curved lines emanate from just forward of the main engine .... ( starboard @starboard and port-to-port in this pic ;D )

Please Stand By .... . .

Thanks , Q ;D
Good to see ya !

I know that it looks nothing like a Klingon Bird of Prey , but , ::) those lines keep making me think " Bird Of Prey " . " Bird Of Prey "
I must build one now .
What's the best kit out there ?

That's not styrene , Jason :( - It's that new(ish) Tamiya curvable masking tape ...

Probably start some color in a few ,,

20160103_113445_zpsjyemi7ko.jpg

That tape is - I'm guessing - vynil .
It has pretty decent adhesion and can handle repeated re-positioning 8)

AGAIN - you give me ideas ::)
another
Jedi
Mind
Sway .. .
That tape could be over-coated to 'permanize ' it ...

After I remove this round of masking the ship will show me where to go
. .hopefully ;)

I use sign vinyl for all my crazy raised details- particularly on smaller scale ships
All the white on my passenger liner is vinyl.

You did a great job on those curved vinyl parts? Dud you use a french curve or just freehand it?

Thanks ,
it's freehand .
You should check it out - they make it 2,3 and 5 mm

LOL just checking in after a few pages and MAN this thing is wild. Can't wait to see the final result!!

This is going to be interesting. I like the colors so far. Pegs this as an eclectic private industry endeavor if you can work that into the back story. :D

As far as how it might turn out... Pays to be a pessimist. You are either always right or pleasantly surprised.

...Not that I live by that creed but I do find it funny. ;D

;D ;D

Excellent - I'm quite pleased everyone is enjoying it !

I'm thinking this thing is more like a party-barge to this guy .
He keeps it in a scenic orbit - wherever - and has events and what-not 8)
The port end would house his stateroom and offices with the gallery central and guest rooms spread around ..

I guess I need to build his primary yacht .
Probably 10 times bigger
