Tamiya 1/48 Avro Lancaster

Great work Rookie. :)
So close to finished.

Great work! As for me the camo is too bright, will you make it more dimmer?

Malish85, I think that the brightness of the camoflage might be the lighting (and not so much the actual paint colors), the tone of the brown varies from picture to picture.

Correct Jmac, the lighting in the last 2 pics is off. I couldn't fit it where I normally take my pics so had to put it on the floor :p

Adam, I haven't heard of that trick and it makes me a little nervous ..... Lol. I'll try some more sol and see how it goes.

Thanks for the comments ;D

Hey Rookie, you got nothing to worry about. Just dip your brush in the X-20A, dab it on the decal, and then leave it for 24 hours. No talking about soaking wet brush or anything, nothing that would run, just a dap brush and swipe across the decal. Works like a charm!

Rookie - try it out on some spare Tamiya decals that came with the kit first. I've never tried this, sounds like a pretty cool tip.

Not much progress on this ol beast.... Airbrushed the exhaust stains.

Slowly getting there, think I'm ready for a final flat coat then I can start on the finishing touches.

Looks good. Did you ever try Adams tip of using the X-20a on the decals?

Race ya to see who finishes first...

Your on !

Nope didn't try the trick with thinner, just going to let them be.

All the hard work is done now, fingers crossed it won't be another 6 months for the next update ;D

Thanks Subhuman.

Almost there now, just a few finishing touches here and there.

And you take the lead by a mile...

Looks great, beautiful job. What finishing touches remain?

You're really making me think I should just shelve my "honey do list" for the next few days and devote that recovered time to modeling...

Jason

Shelve the honey list at your own peril mate.....

It rained non stop here all weekend so got some good bench time in ( after I had completed all the jobs for the missus of course ;) )

Still got a bit of brush painting on the air intakes and touch up where some of the paint lifted on the canopy when I removed the masking. Running light on the wing tips also need to be added. Hope to have it all done by next weekend.

:)

Rookie,

Sorry I've been silient on this one. I've been watching with my jaw on the floor, just been too busy with my own "List." Anyways, she's looking mighty fine!

Cheers Adam, it's been 2 years in the making. Not sure what I'm going to do with it when it's finished... I'm thinking of donating it to a local museum, http://www.raafawa.org.au/museum/avro-lancaster#!Lancaster_01_6

No room in my cabinet and I'd hate to see it collect dust in my man cave.

Finished this old girl today, finally !! ;D
