Hey Guys,
New to the herd and thought I would jump in with kit from my stash for this group build. I have not built a lot a military stuff during my modeling career, have been a car modeler. Looking to have fun and make some new friends along the way. I have the photoetch kit but have not used a lot of this stuff. I better go find my opti visor and some research material. hopeful to get the kit started by the end of the week.

oh cool Norm just done a rewview of this kit not so long ago so it will be nice to see one go together

IMBEAR,

Welcome to th HERD Now that is a Phat P.E. set Bro !! Ya' got you're hands full with this one !!! I can't wait to see ya nail it !

Welcome IMBear887. Great kit you got there, I'm working on a Stryker myself, but with much less PE. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.
Good luck with her and have some fun!

Welcome IMB! Nice kit!!! Like the PE too!! ;D Looking forward to seeing your progress!!! ;)

Thanks for the welcome guys,

Okay it is a lot of photo etch  14 frets of it. Since I am fairly new to this product other than seat belts I will approach from cautious point of view. I will use the photo etch for the upper hull and gun and maybe the screen boxes by the wheels. Still it is using 90% of the kit.
Started on the front armor of the kit and will get into the suspension shortly. Let me say one thing about the AFV kit, it well worth every penny. In my opion it more well designed than some of the Tamiya kits I have worked on. The kit will be the easy part, the photo etch will be my challenge. Overall excited to get it finished.
Will keep up with the forum for the next week, wont be able to build due travel with the family. Enjoying everones progress on thier projects and keeping me well motivated.

Wow, that is a lot of shinny stuff!!! No rushing, just take your time on that PE. ;)

I’m very interested in this kit so I’m watching closely and I’m looking forward to more updates.
Cheers
Lukasz

just a word of caution ! .... not all photo etch needs to be applied ! sometimes the kits parts are better...

I am sure others can vouch for my thinking ?? I have replaced a few parts in my life and sometimes I was disappointed with the Photo Etch one... sometimes too thin or Flat ! compared with a styrene one...

Live and learn ! so.. compare before you Hack away !!! just saying... it could save you some time and aggravation !!! just saying !

It's a beautiful kit.... not sure it needs that much P.E. to make it better ??

The Rear suspension "Screens"... I would not replace them as they are completely transparent ! or Drilled out ! if I can say that ? but you'll be the judge !

Looking forward to some more assembly... looks good from here...

Norm

OUT !!

Thanks FT for the bump, I have not had anytime to get my bench lately. I hope to get sometime soon. I did get some suspension dry fitted so I will get pics out soon.

Thanks for advice on the photo etch schweinhund227. Will look at the kit parts before I build, like you said it is a superb kit.

I'm getting work done on my Stryker IMBear so you have to too. It's only fair. ;)

Hey guys sorry for the no progress on the MGS, after vacation my 8 month old daughter got sick and ended up in hospital. She is doing great now and life has become more manageable. I am hoping to get back to the modeling table by the end of the week. Everyone is doing incredible work from what I have seen and can not wait to join the fray. Happy modeling until next time.

So sorry to hear about your daughter!! Glad to hear she is doing better! Family first my friend!! Take care of that little girl, we'll all still be here!! ;)
