Hello all,

I have been on this forum for a while but I think this is my first post. I wanted to share a few pics of a Static Grass Applicator that I made from directions found in Model Railroad Magazine which can be found here:

The applicator I built is the 120v model which uses an Ion Generator. This thing works great and for 30ish bucks it certainly beats putting out almost $200 for the Noch Grass Master. In any case here are some pics.. Very cool stuff.

That is great Joe!!! I looked at the expensive version (for about a second) when I picked up some static grass...thought something could be made...brings me to the second thanks....the link!! I feel a little side project coming on!! ::)

JOE,

That's Awesome ! Thanx for sharing ! The results are undeniable ! Great Job !! I'll have to run down to Lowes' now & get it together !

Thanx again for sharing !

I made one via the mosquito zapper method however I have to say your results look better (thicker coverage).

Hmmm...another DIY on the horizon. Thanks and great stuff.

BTW - welcome to SMA and thank you for posting!

Hello all,

Thanks for all the kinds words and I have to admit the thing really works well. I am building another one for a friend of mine since the first one was somewhat of a prototype and was thinking of making a Vid of it. If I do so I will be sure to post it here as well. I wanted to give you all the link to the ION Generator as they can be tough to find from what I understand.

If you goto: http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/ and search on item number: G1783 that is the exact one I purchased.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good store/site to get different lengths of static grass?

Thanks,
Joe F.

JOE,

Thanx again for this post !! Have you heard of Scenic Express ? They have some Awesome Stuff !!

http://www.scenicexpress.com/ - I have some of th Buffalo Tufts & use it for 1/35th & it looks Great. There are a few Guys here that use Scenic Express !!

Thanks for the link! I've seen DIY instructions before, but only for the flyswatter version and not a 120V option. I owned the Noch version for about a week before I returned it. The results were mediocre and the more I thought about paying $200 for the thing, the more I knew I had to return it...

Thanks again!
