Star Trek 1/1000 Enterprise - E Paper model

Good evening.
Sorry for not posting any updates sooner. I have been building but life has intervened a few times.
Anyway finished assembling the port nacelle and recoloured the nave lights that were green and needed to be red.

Now on to the dreaded pylons.

Pylon%201_zps7bisq7wt.jpg

Each pylon consists of 3 pieces, and started cutting out and assembling those pieces. The biggest challenge is to keep the ends square and flat, or you will have problems later on.

The piece that attaches to the nacelle, make sure you score all the fold lies first. Including the hidden ones, which are valley folds.
The pylons have an assembled angle of 23 deg. In order make the angle consistent and the assembly flat, a jig was constructed and the pylons assembled on the jig.

With the pylons assembled, before they could be attached to the hull a jig for the alignment of the whole ship had to be constructed. The jig is needed to hold the pylons in place and properly aligned while they are being glued and for the installation of the nacelles later.

This is where I am at and should be able to install the nacelles tomorrow.

Thank you for following.
Questions and comments welcome.

Hi John.
With the jigs the pylons were fairly easy to install.
Installing the nacelles was one of the easier jobs.
The part of the pylon that attaches to the nacelle, has a nice flat shelf, that holds the nacelle straight and aligned.
They were installed this morning.
Here are a couple of teasers to show how she looks.

Good evening everyone.
Well the Enterprise E is finished.
