Or the HAWK of this thread?

If it's the HAWK, "They're war machines and that's all I need to know."

we'll fix up some of the details if you wanna go a little deep.
I broke bags recently, quite a change from the last three kits I've been working on from Meng, Wingnut Wings, and Zoukei Mura I must say. Just done some basic construction, will probably try to prime later this week so not much to show at this point.

Been trying to find videos, as of right now this is one of the better ones

One interesting tidbit is that there is not much consistency from episode to episode, and even the red stripes on the transporter pod vary in the TV series.

Anything to share at this stage, or is it mostly in the latter stages? No hurry, I'll probably take months to finish this.

In year one, there was only 1-44" with a couple different type modules for almost the entire year of filming. 1-22" with different type modules. 1-11" with the same few modules and 1-5.5" with even fewer modules. If you see the red striped module on a 44" Eagle, that's all there was and it was one of the plain white modules, and there were only a couple of those, painted with red stripes. Same all the way down the sizes. If there are any inconsistencies, the only thing that could cause that was filming of the very few different sizes for different situations. There was NEVER more than 3 44" Eagles ever made for both years, necessitated by the numerous crashes they had to film with that 1 and only first 44".

I'm sure that is the case, but stealing from the video I just finished there's this paused moment where he shows three different treatments from that module...

It looks like the metal exhaust modules are no longer avaialabe, maybe on evilbay, but at scalper prices. Since the round parts are modled in single parts I think I can get a good finish with paint. Right now it is the hundreds of gray or light blue parts that scare me for now. Plenty of time to think it through, a bit over 350 parts will keep me busy.

Anything else I need to watch out for in these early stages?

I'm sure that is the case,

It is.

Here's a set:

The original miniatures were aluminum, so these are true to that. The detailing isn't 100%, but the originals were hand made on a lathe.

Anything else I need to watch out for in these early stages?

Yes. The callouts in his video are certainly true. As I've pointed out, several times already and he also doesn't seem to know is...

PICK ONE EAGLE AND ONE SIZE.

The inconsistencies are there, ESPECIALLY in Eagles of different sizes and when you show 3 different Eagles/configurations because you aren't aware. It is, however, true that the inconsistencies he points out were there.

You'll have to pick just one Eagle of one size and model that, in my opinion. I recommend that first picture he pointed out. That's the original 44" Eagle. Here's that Eagle both from the show and in later years.

Even that original 44" Eagle changed over time because they had to keep rebuilding it from crashing the thing. There was only 1 for most of the first season. Those crashes in the show were that real 44" model slamming into the concrete dush on the set.

Over and over.

Just sayin'.

Thanks for that!

Right now I'm as afraid of the various stipes on the upper backbone as I was about the gray and blue patches.

I do think I'll pass on the metal bit, $145 for the nozzles is what I meant about "scalper" prices and more than I paid for the kit. I'll try to force myself to go slow and do it justice. Think I should stop hijacking the Hawk thread though. I'
I'll start a new one when I have something worth showing.

You're welcome, although I'm thinking it's an exercise in futility.

Of all the things concerning inconsistencies, that should be the least of them. Those were certainly different just about every episode, just keep them subtle and they'll be fine. Particularly depending on the Eagle you pick to imitate. Striping on the crossmember piping too.

Those bells I sent the link to aren't much more than they were when they were released. They were always more than the actual kit. They were "on sale" about 8-10 years ago for about 60-70 bucks, but that was the lowest they ever were. They were $120.00 when they came out. I bought 14 22" kits for $65.00 each, so that oughta tell ya'.

Think I should stop hijacking the Hawk thread though.

Agreed. I even forgot we was still IN the HAWK thread. I apologize jwt708!

Good. Do.
