SMK prototype 1/35 kit bash

Cheers guys.

I've got the beastie fully built and primed now, it only just fit in my spray booth!

Should have more progress posted at the weekend

Cool stuff. I love builds in this stage with different colour styrene and PE etc.

Hi Guys

A bit more progress to share as promised

The build section is complete! I sorted out the fenders, finished off the turrets and added all the other little details. Whilst on the subject of the turret I have to commend Trumpeter on this kit, it really is excellent, it goes together easily, has lots of crisp detail and the fit of parts is top notch. This really showed when I assembled the Zvezda front turret, its was basically the opposite of the Trumpy kit! It was hard to tell where the flash ended and the kit began at times! Still here it is after construction

Then I primed it with Vallejo Russian green primer before using Russian green as a base coat and adding a little ivory in stages to lighten things up. This was finished with a filter of AK streaking grime thinned with white spirit

My camera seems to have bleached the colour out a bit, it looks much richer in the plastic. I can leave this to dry tonight and get on with some more tomorrow

Thanks for looking

Hi Guys

Another quick update, spent the whole of yesterday and this morning applying a layer of oil weathering to the SMK. It's absolutely worn me out, there was so much ground to cover!

and just for fun here's how big this thing is compared to a Bergerpanther, no small tank itself

I think I need a break now and have got to let the oils dry for few days before I get onto the pigments

Thanks for looking

Thanks guys

It has really come together fast, just a shame I've got to stop now till the oils dry!

That was an impressively fast scratch-build project.

Looking really good. You just gotta love those crazy multi-turreted tanks.
