Order of paint came in. This is what was needed for the builds for this year. Sheesh
Typically I do not, however I joined so many group builds for 2026 that the year kind of planned itself. If that makes sense. You know that already? Wow, you plan things out a lot more than I do, then![]()
Nice. Gotta love those half price sea mammals. This just flew in. Half price so I couldn't resist. Pantherman
Me planning my 2026 builds. This is what was needed for the builds for this year.
I used a fine diamond file on the edges to get them flat where they meet then a strip of Tamiya masking tape on each side. Grips the PE really well for filing and bending. PanthermanAfter seeing @Pantherman 's fancy long flat pliers last December for PE, I ordered me some... not arrived yet.
But this couple did show up!

...gonna have to reorganize my tool board, now that I've a whole new category of PE and brass-working tools!
Bet you can't wait to get your TEETH into that kit.... Pantherman
I do like Osprey Press!Amongst several other books I bought recently, mostly kindle editions, wonder if anyone else has this one, great overview for someone like me, new to WW2 aviation!I
Don't worry, all Shermans except the Firefly are M4s to meI can only do four properly,
Same. Not sure what that Japanese plane is and I recognize the Russian one but don't know what it's called.I can only do four properly, the other two are "a Japanese fighter" and "a Soviet fighter". Interesting that they opted for two German planes when they could have put, I don't know, a French or an Italian one on instead, too.
So how did you do that? As you know, I now have a selection of pliers that need tweaking as well.flat and straight.
Just alot of slow careful filing with a little flat file.So how did you do that? As you know, I now have a selection of pliers that need tweaking as well.
And I'm also thinking we should have a thread just on 'tools' of the trade.
Handy tools, new tools, jigs, ratings, maintenance, sourcing. I'd be watching that fer sure, eh?!
I tend to bookmark informative posts, but I doubt many people do.
it happens...Curse of my Afro-Med obsession: just flew into the car while I drove past my LHS!

I love a Crusader and JavelinJust back from the local hobby shop where I always hit up the clearance section. The Crusader seems to be a popular SMA subject lately. This would be a nostalgia build for me as I first built one back in the late 70s and I remember it fondly. I've always loved the old Revell missile kits and have built a few. And the Javelin I've been eyeing as I recently picked up a Buccaneer and thought they would go well together.

Also, after hearing and seeing so many recommendations for it I broke down and ordered a Tamiya anti-static cleaning brush.

I told my wife, "...it has very special properties and can absorb static electrical charge off the surface of plastic models so that they have no static charge and little flecks of dust aren't attracted to them."
I then continued on to tell her that it stores that electricity that it collects until it's full, then you have to get a new one. I subsequently mentioned that you have to be very careful when you handle it cuz it can electrocute you if you don't know how to use it safely.
I'm now pretty confident that my anti-static brush will in fact remain in its rightful resting place in my tool set.
That's forward planning alright. Impressive.Order of paint came in. This is what was needed for the builds for this year. Sheesh
