rusty shop truck

Hello everyone,

Got this kit last year and started some assembly a few weeks back. Going to go for a shop truck look and going to try my hand at adding some rust to it.



used some grey Vallejo primer and paints from theit rust & chipping kit to start the rusted areas. Next step will be adding the lighter colours of the rust, add some chipping medium and mask off the exposed rust to add the body color.

Suggestions and comments welcomed!

Hi everyone,

Added the lighter rust colour and used some liquid mask and chipping medium before painting the body



Lots of touching up to do now that I've tried this for the first time...




going to start painting and chipping the chassis next and decide how i'my going to paint the engine and exhaust.

Thank you cargoman! Going a little slow lately, looking to up-date the tires and possibly the wheels. have to get back to paint but doing some flooring and browsing for AM parts is taking much of my free time

Finished up wiring the spark plugs, these pre-wired distributors are great!



Going to work on the front grill next and paint the wood in the box

Decided to go with the wheels and tires from the kit... they are the old type tires that need to be glued together. Tried a few different sizes but it was hard to fill out the wheel wells like these did.



Also had decals from the GMC plow truck kit to make it a little more colorful.





I think the grill will go black except for the chevy bow tie and headlights. Still lots to do
