I've decided to try my hand a building a truck, one that resembles my wife's late grandfather's farm truck.
In building tanks I've learned some weathering techniques to use on this build. Of course I still have a long way to go and so much to learn as I'm still not very good at weathering.
Anyway, I found a model on ebay of a '72 C10 Chevy and hope to copy the pictures to the model. And some plain wheels.
I'll start this a few days after Pantherman and my pink spitfire duel build

One of the best two builds very enjoyable ever did.

Took two Snatch (military) Land-rovers & turned them into a civilian series 2 & a series 3.

New roof. New door rear end. No windows so they were put & in new drivers navigator door.

Finally amended bonnets & different for each, series 2 & 3, radiator grilles. Superb to scratch build.

Best of luck Geg. Hope you are doing a build series !

Thank you sir. If I build another civilian car/truck I might be a little while. I started fiddling with this kit today. The steering wheel is damaged, practically beyond repair. I have an old amt Sun Cruiser and took the wheel from that kit. I did a few modifications and will be using it.
There is a lot of flash and I realize this is an older kit so that's to be expected. At least I have a full box of number 11s. lol
I've returned the parts back to the box for now until Pantherman and I finish our Pink Spitfire builds.

Ha well you have plenty of time at 58.

1964 I had been married 3 years & had the first daughter of 4 children.

Yes, sir. I hope I have plenty of time.
I'm planning my retirement for the end of '24.

Yesterday I started the farm truck. Now, I have to say, after being spoiled with fine engineering and quality materials of today's kits. The AMT brand seems so archaic, and that's the way things were back in my childhood of building models.
That actual build wouldn't take long. However, all of the prep work like cutting, trimming, filing, sanding just to be able to paint and assemble the kit. And then there little touches like making the exhaust pipes look like pipes instead of one piece of plastic molded like a blob on the chassis. I had to use my micro saw to cut out the plastic to give the pipe some separation from the chassis then drill out the end to give it a better look.
I did manage to assemble and paint the engine.
I'll attach porgreds photos tomorrow.
I just got in from work and kind of tired and ready to get some sleep.

This AMT truck chassis is poor quality. It's all one peice. it's OK. The main focus will be the exterior. I feel pretty confident that I can come close to pulling it off.

You definitely have your work cut out for you. I have no doubt you will make it look pretty good.

I've gotten very little done on this build. I'm just not feeling up to it.
I did get both sides painted green and a little bit of red primer down on one side.
