RFM m1240 instructions

I am starting the RFM M1240. There are things in the instructions I don't understand and are not in the legend. I have attached photos as examples. There are some places that are marked in red and appear to be where you should apply adhesive. But there are other places where entire parts are red. And if red in some areas is there to indicate where the adhesive should be applied, why is there red in every drawing to indicate that?

Looks like they are coloring some parts just to make them better delineated .
No idea why they are so specific with the contact surfaces with some parts -- looks like it is the only place to apply solvent cement anyways

I agree with urumomo: they use red for two different purposes. It's mainly used to indicate the joints between parts, but in some pictures it serves to highlight entire parts, to show how or where they fit. Using different colours of ink would have been better, but I guess they figure that will raise the price of printing the instructions.

They did it a bit different with this version , the first kit instructions I pulled up yesterday :

step 7 has no red on the same joints and different hi-lites elsewhere
