With my other projects in the final painting stages, I need something to build. Thought I'd knock out this Ford since it's missing its box and kinda in the way. It was part of the 3-kit Hot Rod Magazine 3-Ford Classics box.

I'm going to use the kit provided 2-piece tire set but the couple times I've tried these I didn't have any luck finding a suitable glue to hold them together. Any experience with these?

Tiny hinges and vague instructions on proper positioning, so I'll have to guess. Note the instructions say do not glue, but you have to glue the hinge to the door. You dont glue when you hang the door.

I think I guessed right.

Wait till you see all the hinges for the cowl!

I sometimes use silver as a base for metallic colors, but since I'm out of silver I'm trying the chrome Rustoleum. Going with spray bombs on this since I have several old cans of Testors lacquer I want to use up. I'm glad that I mostly airbrush now though as it's hard to control the amount of paint coming out of these cans, and it's difficult to get into the corners.

Revell kits can be an interesting challenge when it comes to removable doors and front end suspensions. Especially when the instructions have been updated to just pictures.
That color combination is looking really cool.

Ooh!

Flashback alert!
... drawing hot rods as a kid in the late 60s.
I'd forgotten about that, but I suppose staring at pipes and fenders for that long was bound to register somewhere!

Can't wait to see the wheels and tires on!

Finished this vintage Revell '31 Ford Sedan Delivery. These old Revel kits with all the hinged doors and hoods are a tough build. The hinges are so small and delicate, and getting them to align is near impossible. Combine that with warpage of the plastic and its a real struggle. As a result, I glued the rear and passenger doors shut completely and glued the cowl into one piece but still made it removeable. The driver door I glued in the open position because it just rests on the hinge pins with nothing keeping it from falling off. It's built OOB except for the wheels and tires which I needed to replace from the spares bin. I'm very happy with the results though.

Nice build mate, looks great. Like those wheels, really nice suits the car. Looks like I have a battle on my hands when I start mine.

You're sure right about those older Revell kits being tough to work with but you made 'er look pretty dang snazzy @Tommergun . Love the color and the work involved in straightening everything out.

Was that green lacquer also metallic because it looks from the photos like there is metal flake in it
