I started this some time ago. I'm planning to build it in flight with W.Gr. 21 rockets slung under the nose à la Me 262 style. I've added a pilot and IP from my spares.

I'm not sure on two things;

1. Not sure about paint scheme yet. The PM Model decals are pretty much junk, so I'll paint the markings or steal from my spare decals/stash of kits.

2. How often I can update this thread over the next couple months - my house is under going renos, my holidays are over and I'm back at work, my wife is working out of town for the next month, the kids are starting school, and I'm taking a University math course. We'll see, this thread just might slip off of the radar for a while...

The pictures below show how the building has progressed so far. I had some small fit/ warping in the wings - so the wings of my build will have a very slight anhedral. I have re-scribed the panel lines and primed the model, but I haven't taken any picture of it at that stage yet.

Thanks for stopping in and taking a look. Comments always welcome.

Jason

Here's where I'm more or less at;

Thanks Zappa, and Adam. Really appreciate the comments guys. I finished priming the model and found some flaws, that need to be filled/fixed. Also I've also decided to add some fictitious cockpit detail, so I have a ton of can-oh-pea (Kens spelling ;D ) polishing work - the PM Models canopy is thick and has a bunch of " scars" that will need to be fixed, just so the cockpit details and the pilot can be seen. And I think I'm going to replace the W.Gr. 21 launch tubes (from the Revell Me 262 kit) with scratch built ones - the kit ones have very heavy seams.

I hope to have some up date pictures posted soon.

Chipping away.
Jason

Managed to make a little progress, I replaced the kit parts for the W.Gr. launcher tubes with a thin-wall aluminum tubing. I'm currently making rockets for the tubes by modifying kit parts and adding rod styrene and bits. I also managed to finish priming the model. I still have to decide if I'll fix/polish the kit canopy or use it as is.

One baby step closer to paint. :)

Thanks for stopping in and taking a look.

;D Yes - it's painted black ;D

I have always been curious as to the quality of these PM kits. This little Ta-183 doesn't look half bad, might build one myself.
Happy modeling!

Thanks Mr. Max. :) The PM kits can be fun little builds if you're ok with very basic details. This is my second PM build. My first was a Yak-15, it can be found at;

I originally bought them as they were subjects I just couldn't find else where and the price was right (under $5 CAD each). I'll likely pick-up a few more of their Luft '46 kits just to be built as fun de-compression builds. The fit of the PM kits requires some extra work, and the panel lines can be crude - but I seen some wicked finished builds. Just depends on what you expect out of a "good" kit...If you expect a modern Tamiya, Eduard or Hasegawa type kit, you might want to skip over the PM brand.

Took a little longer than an hour, but it's moved beyond the basic (or is it classic) black stage. ;D I'm totally making up a camouflage scheme based loosely on FW 190 D's and ME 262 that would have been in service at the time. I've started by painting the defence bands of the JG 7. Still have to deal with the canopy also.

Jason.

Well, as long as the kit looks like the intended subject matter and both halves of the fuselage match up and both wings are the same length I can certainly over-look the basic details. I have had kits from Lindberg and Glenco completely unbuildable because one half of the model was noticeably longer and bigger then the other! :mad:

PM Models looks to be decent.

I agree with you Mr. Max.

Quick update. Most of the painting is done. I did manage to drop it during painting, the fall dented the small aluminum tubing - so I had to replace that...

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to gloss this in the next couple days. Just have not had very much bench time lately.

Finished. ;D Made the base and mounted the Ta-183 today.
