I decided to make my own for fun. It took a few hours. I had the material on hand but I'm guessing it was about 5 dollars worth of aluminum. I turned the knob-screw as well.

I copied a typical design but left the shaping for whatever I need in the future.

Yes sir, on the lathe. I made the knob with course thread so it doesn't take much movement to tighten and loosen. It sacrifices some preload power but it's not needed.

I'm happy to report though that I've gotten to use it lots and it's great! So far the shaping of the one "leg, arm" has been sufficient for making the four sides of a box. Nice to have the room to shape whatever else I may need as time goes on.
